Between the years 2003 and 2007 General Motors produced their pick up and SUV models with defective (recalled) parts inside the instrument cluster. Over time the defective parts, will wear out causing erratic movement of the gauges including the speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, oil pressure gauge, water temp gauge, volt gauge and the optional transmission temperature gauge. Common symptoms of motor failure are: Dead or sticky gauges, Gauges giving obviously wrong readings, Needles "pegging out" or showing maximum readings, Intermittent operation of gauges and Speedometer that read roughly half or even double the actual vehicle speed. Obviously this situation can lead to potential speeding tickets. Even unsafe conditions if the driver is startled at the incorrect reading while driving. Commonly, fuel gauge failure has led to drivers being stranded along the road as they attempt to measure their fuel by miles driven on the odometer. If you find yourself with a GM vehicle that has any of these problems you have a few options. First, you can consider buying a used cluster assembly from a salvage yard or "junk yard". Be aware however, you must have the mileage programmed from the dealer and all used clusters will have the same defective parts and will also fail in time. Well, we are coming to the end of the year and people are out buying used cars. Please make sure that the CHECK ENGINE LIGHT is working!!! When we buy a car the first thing you look at are the warning lights to make sure they are not on, but look closely did the light come on and go away like it should. We see it all too often CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS ripped out. If you fall victim to this fraud give us a call and we can get you all fixed up.

Cheap work ain't good, good work ain't cheap!
We are fixing a lot of screw-ups by the cheaper guys, that just don't have a clue on what they are really doing. Please do your research when picking a repair shop and don't get hung up on the price.
Here is a prime example. We quoted this customer $125 for a full rebuild( all new motors and new lighting with a lifetime warranty). This customer only had lighting issues at the time. We told him that we recommend a full rebuild because the motors will fail in time. The customer found someone that would do the lighting for $50. That customer would come to find out that he made a big mistake.
On his way home he noticed that all his info had been erased (odometer) the truck would even register new miles. This customer called us back and said I am sorry I made a mistake and asked if we would still be willing to look at it. Basically, the guy that he took it to was very sloppy and shorted the whole board out which now the board needed replaced. What was a $125 rebuild now cost this customer $300 for a new board and programming.
Notice the pics. This is a mickey mouse way to do things and might cost you more money in the long run.
