The journey starts before the wheels turn.
For generations, Indigenous peoples have carried deep knowledge of the land—understanding terrain, routes, weather, and the importance of preparing for the journey ahead.
Today, moving an oversized load across state lines requires that same fundamental principle: know the route before you move.
A successful oversized shipment starts with:
📏 Accurate dimensions and weight — including attachments, overhangs, and loaded height
🚛 The right trailer — based on the load, weight distribution, and loading method
🛣️ Route planning — checking bridges, clearances, restrictions, and road conditions
📄 Permits and escorts — arranged with enough lead time
🏗️ Ready pickup and delivery sites — including cranes, forklifts, access roads, turning space, and site contacts
⏱️ Realistic scheduling — allowing for permit restrictions, weather, traffic, and unexpected delays
📲 Clear communication — keeping the shipper, carrier, driver, and receiver on the same plan
Because with oversized freight, the route is part of the shipment.
A load can be perfectly secured and ready to go—but if the route, permits, equipment, or delivery site aren't ready, the truck isn't ready to move.
This Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we honor the enduring knowledge, cultures, and contributions of Indigenous peoples and recognize the importance of understanding the land and the journey ahead.
