Today, we had the privilege of celebrating some truly outstanding members of our Transportation Department during Convocation, and we couldn’t be more proud!

🌟 And a very special recognition goes to Wanda Sykes, who was honored for an incredible 45 years of service to Gladewater ISD! 45 years of dedication, commitment, and service to our students and community is an achievement that deserves a standing ovation. Wanda‘s impact on generations of students and staff is immeasurable and we are beyond grateful for her unwavering commitment to Gladewater ISD. Congratulations, Wanda. 👏🏽 🧡 🖤

Please join us and congratulating Stacy Burke, who was named the TAPT Rookie of the Year by the members of the Texas Association for Pupil Transportation! 

This prestigious honor is awarded from among transportation professionals across more than 1200 school districts in Texas, making Stacy’s accomplishment truly remarkable. Her dedication, professionalism, and passion for student transportation have made an impact and we are incredibly proud to see her recognition on a statewide level.

As the 2025-2026 school year comes to a close, the Gladewater ISD Transportation Department would like to thank all of our students, parents, staff, and community for another amazing year! 🚌💛

Today, we safely delivered every one of our students home for the final time this school year, and that is something we are incredibly proud of.

Thank you for the laughs, conversations, smiles, and memories made on our buses this year. We truly enjoyed getting to know and care for your children each and every day. They made our routes brighter and our jobs meaningful.

We hope all of our families have a safe, relaxing, and fun-filled summer break! Thank you for trusting us with your most precious cargo throughout the year.

See you all in August! ☀️🚌

GPS has lost a beloved staff member, our lead custodian, Ms. Raquel Salinas. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Ms. Raquel brought kindness, compassion, and positivity to our campus each day and cared deeply for both students and staff. Her family shared how much she loved her GPS family, and it was clear those relationships meant so much to her.

In her honor, we invite everyone to wear pink or white on Friday, May 15th—her favorite colors.

We are grateful for the impact she made and will continue to keep her family in our thoughts during this difficult time.

Stephanie Tucker
Stephanie has truly earned Employee of the Month for March through her dedication, flexibility, and unwavering positivity. Serving as both a bus monitor and the administrative assistant to the Director of Child Nutrition, she has gone above and beyond - especially while navigating an ever-changing schedule and adapting to working with multiple drivers after her primary driver’s resignation. Despite these challenges, Stephanie remains dependable, upbeat, and always willing to put others before herself. She works seamlessly with everyone around her and consistently brings a positive energy to the team. We are incredibly grateful to have Stephanie on our team and appreciate all that she does each and every day.

Sharla Cheatham
We are proud to recognize this month's Employee of the Month, Sharla, for her outstanding hard work and dedication. She's consistently going above and beyond, always stepping forward, even when told to sit down and rest. She's always eager to get things done. Her commitment to following rules and procedures ensures a safe, structured environment, especially when it comes to prioritizing the safety and well-being of the kids in her care. We are incredibly grateful to have her as a part of our team!

Hey Bear Nation!

We hope you all had a very relaxing and enjoyable Spring Break. We are ready to welcome our Bears back! Let's make these last 42 days count!

Don't forget - If your student was riding Bus #19 to and/or from school before Spring Break, they will start riding Bus #1 tomorrow, 3/17/26. The bus stop, pick-up/drop-off times, and driver will remain the same!

We'll see you tomorrow morning, with your bus card! 😉

Help us celebrate our February Employees of the Month!!

Janet Mendez
Janet was selected as our Employee of the Month for February. She is an outstanding driver to have in our district. She has taken on more than she should, and evolves when situations get tough. The care she has for her students is shown daily. The love she has for her coworkers is amazing. There is not a day that goes by that she isn't looking out for someone. We are grateful to have her apart of our team!

Staci Gage
Staci was selected as our Employee of the Month for February. She stepped up and took over one of the longest routes we have in the district, while still maintaining her main job as a 1st grade teacher at our Primary campus. No matter what is thrown her way, she handles it with confidence, professionalism and grace. Her ability to maintain strong student discipline while still creating an environment filled with laughter, smiling and positive energy is truly admirable. We thank her for her hard work, resilience and uplifting spirit she brings to our team. Staci, your dedication to Gladewater ISD does not go unnoticed!

Bobo Gordon
Bobo was selected as EOM in January for his outstanding hard work and dedication. He is consistently stepping up without hesitatation and handles business with professionalism. He balances warmth, smiling, and laughter with strong effective discipline that creates safe structured and positive environment for kids. He knows how to have fun while maintaining respect in order which makes a lasting impact on everyone he works with. We thank him for his commitment, reliability, and positive energy. He brings every day. We are lucky to have him on our team!

Lynda Stone
Lynda was selected as EOM in January for her dedication, williness to help, awesome attendance, and great improvement. The behavior intervention strategies that she implemented on her bus have improved the overall discipline significantly. She is a true team player and will go through extra mile when needed. We are lucky to have her on our team!
