History is coming down the tracks. 🚂

This November, a steam locomotive will arrive in Gettysburg as part of Lincoln at Gettysburg: Shall Not Perish, a special commemoration of President Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address and the nation’s America250 celebration, presented by the Lincoln Fellowship of Pennsylvania and Gettysburg National Military Park.

On November 18, a steam-powered train will recreate Lincoln’s arrival in Gettysburg, carrying approximately 200 invited passengers before a reenactor portraying President Lincoln makes his way through the streets of Gettysburg to the David Wills House, retracing the path Lincoln took before delivering the Gettysburg Address in 1863.

Then, November 19–21, it’s your turn to climb aboard.

Gettysburg Railway will offer three days of special one-hour excursions behind visiting Northern Central Railway steam locomotive No. 17.

Hear the whistle. Feel the power. Experience a piece of railroading history in one of America’s most historic towns.

And our team couldn’t resist making the moment even sweeter, surprising the newly engaged couple with flowers and balloons waiting for them when the train returned.

Proud to show up for our community. ❤️

Today, members of the Gettysburg Railway team traded the train for the bar as guest bartenders at the Reach 4 the Stars Art in the Garden Party at Oxford Hill Manor.

The event supports the East Berlin Area Community Center’s capital campaign to build a new community center in Abbottstown, creating a place for local families and neighbors to gather, learn and connect.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to play a small part in an event making a big investment in our community. Thank you to everyone who came out, supported the silent auction and helped make today such a success!

This October, we’re celebrating apple harvest season with complimentary locally grown apples from tree to train on select 12:30 PM excursions.

This fall, we’re breaking the rules aboard Gettysburg Railway with Dessert Before Dinner, a special 4 PM train experience filled with the flavors of the season.

Think pumpkin- and fall-inspired dessert trays, hot apple c***r, hot cocoa and an October afternoon on the rails. 🍂

And here’s the catch: we’re only doing it twice.
