ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Manage and direct all personnel and activities at the warehouse
• Work as a primary contact for all warehouse customer needs
• Monitor customer requirements
• Responsible for maintaining accurate inventory
• Handle customer relation issues and alleviated problems in a timely manner
• Work as a liaison between rail lines/truckers and customers to ensure adequate lead times for bookings
• Supervise in loading/unloading cargo
• Schedule and coordinate warehouse operations on a daily basis
• Prepare warehouse receipts and BOL’s for incoming and outbound freight
• Supervise truck/rail car loading and unloading
• Supervise all stuffing and stripping operations
• Schedule trucks for all outbound warehouse freight
• Insure that warehouse laborers are aware of cargo locations for loading out and make sure the correct cargo is being shipped out
• Insure labor is being efficiently utilized
• Insure safety rules are followed
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Supervise warehouse workers day to day activities.
• Responsible for scheduling warehouse employees.
QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
• High School diploma, or equivalent;
COMPUTER SKILLS
• Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft office products: Excel, Word, Outlook, etc…
LANGUAGE SKILLS
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret vessel stow plans and other vessel documents.
• Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints for customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
• Ability to effectively present information to top management.
• Ability to draft basic correspondence.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
• Ability to use conversion chart.
REASONING ABILITY
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
• Ability to interpret data as presented and make decisions about next steps.
OTHER SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
• Ability to interpret documents such as: MSDS sheets, container booking info, safety rules, operation instruction, procedure manuals, and other job related documentation
• Knowledge of methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the loading and unloading of containers and trucks.
• Must possess a working knowledge of customer contracts, start times, standby clauses and production.
• Must come to work with a positive attitude.
• Must possess a working knowledge of forklifts and attachments.
• Maintain inventory of dunnage and gear.
• Must be able to maintain confidentiality of company and information.
• Must possess reasonable interpersonal skills.
• Must possess reasonable written and oral communications skills.

Work alongside team members to load and secure cargo loaded onto ships and barges. Physical Labor Required. Must be able to lift and carry heavy items.

GAMS is looking for a mechanic to do routine maintenance as well as trouble shoot larger issues. Some equipment operating may be necessary at times. Ability to get a TWIC card is a plus.
