Fiddler on yhe Roof is a musical with music by Jeery Bock, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, and book by Joseph Stein, set in the Pale of Settlement of Imperial Russia in or around 1895. It is based on "Tevye the Dairyman" and other short stories by Sholem Aleichem. The story centers on Tevye, and milkman in the village of Anatevka, who attempts to maintain his Jewish traditions as outside influences encroach upon his family's lives. He must cope with the strong-willed actions of his three older daughters who wish to marry for love; their choices of husbands are successively less palatable for Tevye. An edict of the tsar eventually evicted the Jews from their village. With great musical numbers as "If I Were a Rich Man," "Matchmaker, Matchmaker, " "Sunrise, Sunset," and "Do You Love Me?" Come join us as we celebrate July 4th at the oldest theme park in North Carolina. We have a late morning departure, and we head for the mountains stopping to support some local merchants and even going out to "The Blowing Rock". From here, we go into Boone for lunch at the famous Daniel Boone Inn. Bring on the feast, we are hungry. Here comes the HAM BISCUITS and we are ready. After our delicious meal, we will Travel to Tweetsie Railroad. Here we will ride the train, take in the amusements at the fair section, see the shows at the saloon and shop in the stores. At 9:30pm we will be there for one of the greatest fireworks around, especially over the beautiful mountains of NC. After the fireworks, we will head for home arriving late in the evening.
