We are pleased to shine a spotlight on Houston Branch Manager Elizabeth (Liz) Castro. Liz began her career at EMO Trans in March 2003 – 03/03/03, to be exact! Since her hiring, her role has evolved significantly.
“I began in airfreight operations, then moved into ocean export management, and later progressed into an operations manager role,” she says. “One achievement I am particularly proud of was becoming Branch Manager in 2020 and helping lead our team through the challenges of the pandemic. That period required resilience, quick decision making, and a strong commitment to both our employees and our customers. I am proud of the way we stayed steady, supported one another, and continued to deliver during such an uncertain time. Today, I have the privilege of leading the branch while also serving on the EMO Empowerment Committee. It has been incredibly rewarding to work alongside colleagues from different regions to find ways we can support not only the communities we serve, but also our EMO family during times of need. Being part of that work has meant a lot to me.”
Liz enjoys being a part of a resilient and knowledgeable team, which includes many longstanding employees who create a strong sense of trust and stability for both customers and staff. “In our industry, there is always a new challenge, whether it is a pandemic, global conflict, extreme weather, equipment shortages, or another unexpected event. We have been through a lot together, and having the right people around you truly makes all the difference,” she says. “Time and again, we hear customers say, ‘If I want it done right, I reach out to EMO Trans.’ That reputation comes from the way our teams show up, adapt, and consistently deliver.”
Outside of work, Liz enjoys spending time with her family, especially her sons, and helping care for her parents. “Living close enough to Galveston makes it an easy short getaway for us. Family time and staying connected with the people closest to me are what help me recharge and stay grounded,” she says.
