This is one of our clients on Lake Hartwell. He needed his boat cleaned…so we did it right in his slip so he wouldn’t have to pay someone to pull the boat out of the water. This client had just had his one year anniversary about a week prior, when he dropped his wedding band in the lake. To say the least, his wife was pretty upset, but they both stayed calm, marked on the deck exactly where the ring went into the water, then did the smartest thing they could have done in this situation…they called LURS! This client lives in Alabama, but purchased this boat from Lake Lanier. Since it was in freshwater, going to saltwater, he needed the anodes changed from magnesium to zinc. He also wanted his props repitched to get a little more horsepower out of his engines. So we pulled the props, changed all the anodes, and put the props back on, that boat is now being enjoyed out in the Gulf of America! Clients wife dropped her phone in between the dock and the jet ski ports at Pelican Petes. He called and we were able to recover the phone, with it still working. iPhone 11 and newer are pretty resilient when it comes to being in the water, as long as there is no damage to the back of the phone before it goes in. LURS recovers stuck anchors as well! This client did everything right in order to make it possible to get his anchor back. He attempted to free it, when he realized he couldn’t, he tied a bumper to his rope BEFORE he cut it, making it extremely easy to find the anchor. However, he will tell you it would have been better just to let all the rope out and tie the bumper to the end instead of cutting the rope…no he has to pay to have the rope reconnected to the anchor chain. Lanier Underwater Recovery Specialists has officially expanded its horizons. Not only do we recover dropped items, but we now clean boats, underwater and topside.
