🏞️Next up on our National Park Series is DEATH VALLEY!!!
🙅🏻♀️I’ve said it before that I refuse to rate my national parks but if I was forced to, Death Valley would be up there!
⛺️Where we stayed:
We’ve visited Death Valley twice so far and have stayed at both campgrounds Furnace Creek and Stovepipe Wells. Check websites for info as some sites are first come first served. Stovepipe Wells has a pool!
🌟 Highlight: Badwater Basin is the lowest, driest and hottest point in the United States at -282 feet elevation. In 1913, the hottest temperature ever recorded was 134 degrees!
🤯 Currently, Badwater Basin is filled with water, creating a RARE OCCURRENCE called Lake Manly. This lake only reappears every decade or so due to rare heavy rainfall. We were lucky enough to see it with AND without the lake since we visited twice this year.
🏬 There are general stores, restaurants, gift shops and visitor centers and even a hotel 🏨
🥾Where we hiked:
🔴Natural Bridge Canyon .6, 233 elev
🔵Badwater Basin 1.84, no elev gain (this probably counted all our steps exploring once we got out there too!)
⚫️Golden Canyon to Red Cathedral 3.04, 515 elev (this can be a longer hike but we chose to stop at the “cathedral”)
🗺️Where we stopped:
🔴Devil’s Golf Course, pic 8
⚫️Dante’s View (great daytime or sunset)
🔵Zabriskie’s Point (go at sunset 👌🏽) pic #2
⚪️Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes (also🔥sunset) if you want to sled on the sand dunes make sure to wax up your sled!
🔴Artists Drive
⚫️Artists Palette (added the teeniest bit of vibrancy to the photos to show what I saw vs how the photo came out. The colors are BRIGHT in person)
🔵Twenty Mule Team Canyon drive
