This is Cappuccino (K21) taking flight last night. Most of the Southern Resident killer whale community came through San Juan Channel yesterday evening, passing Friday Harbor as the sun set. They were vocalizing and socializing, with awesome displays of affection, grace, and power. They seemed to be enjoying a salmon run in the waters now, which further drives home the fact that what these whales need to thrive is abundant salmon. Please help by supporting salmon recovery in any way you can. If you want more information you can check out great organizations like the following:
