Some photos of LifeFlight in Frenchville last night—far from a routine scene. De-icing kicked off with Type I to strip ice from the leading edges and tail, then switched to Type IV as steady snowfall continued, keeping the aircraft protected and ready to go.

The 5th Annual Ski Plane Fly-In at Russell Field (56ME) in Easton, Maine will take place Sunday, March 8, 2026. Join them starting at 11:00 AM with basket lunch served at 12:00 PM for $15 (pilots flying in eat free). Attendees can fly in, snowmobile in via Trail 81C, or drive in at 156 Mahany Rd, Easton. The day will include prizes, raffles, sliding, and a chance to support a great local cause. All proceeds benefit the Easton Trailbreakers Snowmobile Club. For more information call 207-943-3477.

Pretty cool to see — the Tech School in Frenchville forestry class is getting ready to cut firewood for the airport. The wood will help heat the three buildings that rely mainly on wood heat. 🇺🇸

DE-ICE, ICE, BABY 🥶❄️🧊

See our Airport Manager Matt in action taking on some serious ice buildup on the leading edge of the tail. The de-icing cart was locked and loaded with both Type I and Type IV products, and Type I got the job done removing the existing ice and getting everything safely cleared. Just another day of great teamwork, smart preparation, and keeping winter from slowing us down.

Northwoods Air (based in Old Town, ME) is exploring the possibility of offering flight training right here in Frenchville — and we’re looking for locals who want to take to the skies!

A new Sport Pilot License makes learning to fly more affordable than ever, costing roughly half the price of a traditional Private Pilot License. It’s a great way to start your aviation journey and experience the thrill of flight without breaking the bank.

Once enough people show interest, certified pilots will come up to FVE for a meet & greet and introductory flights — the perfect way to see what flying is all about.
