Part 2 is coming, and we’ll be sharing more from our work on the Paris Hilton project in New York City.

While the photos may have been taken in Manhattan, this is still a win for Frederick.

Maryland Double Deckers is a Frederick company, built here, based here, and supported by this community from day one. Opportunities like this allow us to bring that success back home, invest more into the business, create new experiences, and continue growing right here in Frederick.

We’re incredibly proud that a vintage London bus from Frederick found itself working in the middle of New York City, but we’re even more grateful to the people who helped make it possible.

Every ticket purchased, every post shared, every recommendation, and every person who climbed aboard over the years played a part in getting us here.

This is a win for one of Frederick’s own.

And for now, just a photo of Dan and the bus in Manhattan, which still feels a little surreal.

More soon! 🐿️

Some celebrations deserve more than a restaurant table.

Whether you’re planning a birthday, bridal shower, reunion, retirement celebration, family gathering, or simply looking for an excuse to get everyone together, our vintage London double-decker bus offers a unique private venue unlike anything else in Maryland.

Bring your favourite people, your drinks and snacks, your playlist, and your ideas. Some groups create their own winery or brewery day, others plan a tour of Frederick, a surprise celebration, photo opportunities, or simply a memorable afternoon spent together. The bus becomes your private space for the occasion.

With seating for up to 56 guests, a friendly British driver, and the unmistakable charm of a classic London Routemaster, Maryland Double Deckers transforms ordinary gatherings into experiences people talk about long after the day is over.

After much discussion, several maps, at least one strongly worded squirrel memorandum, and a concerning amount of staring upward at buildings, Maryland Double Deckers is pleased to announce that our Frederick history series is now officially complete.

You already know History on the Double, our rolling journey through the stories that shaped the city. Then came Frederick in the Civil War, where cannon fire, hospitals, and divided streets returned to life aboard the top deck. Then AARCHways to the Past with AARCH, exploring Frederick’s Black history and the voices that helped build the city we know today.

And now, joining the lineup at last, Elevated Architecture on the Double in partnership with Heritage Frederick.

Because apparently it has come to our attention that some of Frederick’s most remarkable history has been sitting above everyone’s heads this entire time.

Church spires. Cornices. Rooftops. Decorative brickwork. Entire centuries of architecture quietly judging us from above while we walk around looking for parking.

So now we look up.

Honestly, it was only a matter of time.

Officials in Baltimore were yesterday forced to briefly acknowledge the presence of a giant yellow British double-decker bus conducting ceremonial victory laps through the city after Arsenal won the league, while several hundred supporters onboard sang loudly enough to concern at least one seagull and a parking attendant named Keith.

We headed down to Baltimore for a private hire with the Arsenal supporters club, and honestly, what a day. Flags flying off the top deck, songs echoing through the streets, strangers joining in from sidewalks and pub doors, and enough North London joy onboard to power a small village.

At one point the Department of Advanced Situational Nonsense attempted to organise an official parade squirrel, but negotiations collapsed after he demanded a tiny red scarf and diplomatic immunity.

Massive thanks to the Baltimore Arsenal crowd for having us out. Absolutely brilliant group of people and exactly the sort of wonderfully chaotic thing a vintage London bus was built for.

The Art Ride is an evening aboard our vintage London double-decker bus in partnership with Artspiration, combining galleries, local creativity, twilight city views, and just enough silliness to make the whole thing feel like a moving sketchbook.

You’ll begin at Artspiration before climbing aboard for a ride through Frederick at dusk, with a stop near the NOMA gallery district where you can wander, browse, and quietly pretend you understand abstract art while nodding thoughtfully at things made of wire.

Along the way, drinks from Frederick Social will help keep spirits appropriately high while the city glows around you from the top deck.

It’s part gallery night, part city ride, part moving cocktail hour with suspiciously artistic people.

Frederick’s history is deeper than brick facades and Civil War headlines. Hidden within these streets are generations of Black stories, businesses, churches, families, and voices that helped shape the city into what it is today.

AARCHways to the Past is a guided ride aboard our vintage London double-decker bus in partnership with African American Resources Cultural and Heritage Society, exploring Frederick through the lens of African American history and heritage.

You’ll depart from the AARCH Heritage Center and journey through the city while hearing stories that deserve to be remembered, preserved, and shared.

Upcoming dates:
May 23
June 27

9:30am departure
Leaves from the AARCH Heritage Center

A squirrel has been removed from the top deck after attempting to declare the winery tour an independent nation governed entirely by candles, gossip, and “one more little drink before we go home.”

Anyway.

If you’ve somehow missed what’s going on with Maryland Double Deckers lately, we’ve now gathered all our tours into three gloriously unnecessary categories like a British department store run by raccoons.

There’s the History Series for people who enjoy charming streets, fascinating stories, and saying things like “I never knew that happened in Frederick.”

There’s the Adult Series, which generally begins with somebody saying “we deserve a night out” and ends with everyone taking approximately forty-seven photos on the top deck while laughing loud enough to concern nearby pigeons.

And then there’s the Family-Friendly Series, where children board a giant yellow London bus and immediately behave as though they’ve been handed control of a small naval fleet.

Some tours involve wine. Some involve pastries. Some involve reptiles. One involves magic. Several involve absolute nonsense.

The point is this, whether you want date night energy, a girls’ night out, a family day, or just an excuse to climb aboard a vintage London double-decker and pretend your life is considerably more whimsical than it currently is, we’ve made it easy.

Head to our main tours page and pick your category of chaos accordingly. The Committee for Double-Decker Affairs thanks you for your cooperation.

There is something about climbing onto the top deck of a vintage London bus that immediately turns a normal gathering into a full-scale event.

Someone’s yelling “WAIT DON’T EAT YET I NEED A PHOTO.” Meanwhile someone’s holding six handbags and absolutely furious about it. Someone else is trying to organise a group picture while another person has mysteriously vanished to “just touch up mascara” for the fourth time in twenty minutes.

And somehow it all becomes the best day ever.

Our vintage London buses have hosted weddings, birthdays, engagement parties, winery trips, family celebrations, nights out, and several highly emotional debates about seating arrangements that were resolved peacefully through snacks and Prosecco.

You bring the people. We’ll bring the giant yellow British bus that makes everybody feel like the main character for a few hours.

Saturday, a group of highly organised women boarded a vintage London bus under the completely reasonable belief that they were attending a calm wedding reception.

This was, in hindsight, optimistic.

Lauren and Steven tied the knot a year ago, but finally got to celebrate properly this weekend and honestly, it felt less like a reception and more like the emotional finale of a romantic comedy where everyone’s mascara survives against all odds.

There was laughing. There was shouting from the top deck. There were approximately 47 photos taken in the exact same spot because “wait no, my hair did a weird thing.” One bridesmaid disappeared briefly while holding everyone’s lip gloss hostage. Another became the unofficial prosecco coordinator despite nobody formally appointing her.

Meanwhile Frederick watched a full wedding party roll past on a giant yellow British bus like it was the most normal thing in the world.

And that’s the thing about these days. Somewhere between the speeches, the dresses, the chaos, and somebody yelling “WAIT I WASN’T READY,” you realise you’re watching one of those memories people talk about for years.

Lauren and Steven, thank you for letting us be part of it. What a brilliant day.
