Throwback to when we were moving several different piano manufactures to trade shows around the country. Kawai wanted to park one of their clear pianos in our showroom. At that time this was 1 of only 2 clear Kawai pianos in the US.

Each rebuild is different and unique. This full upright came into our shop for an overhaul, however we quickly found evidence that a few critters made it into their home.

This piano needed a full rebuild anyway so after tearing it all down, cleaned or replaced just about every part, we built this piano back up piece by piece.

Player pianos have come a long way from the old scroll days. Modern technology allows us to install new systems with features like this on just about any make or type of piano.

Since the early 90s, we have worked with several different manufacturers of player systems. Each one requires a thorough knowledge and understanding of the software and components to properly install and maintain them. Finding a technician that can properly adjust each solenoid and quickly diagnose any issues is key to keeping any player system performing flawlessly for decades.

If you have an older player system, there is a chance that it can be upgraded to have modern features. This process can be done in the home in a couple of hours.

Getting close to wrapping up another one!

During restringing, we will soda blast the entire keybed. This will quickly remove 100 years of grime and dust build up that has been trapped under the keys but is also gentle enough to not damage the wood underneath. This also sets the foundation for easier regulation and better overall playability.

After everything is cleaned and polished, we begin regulation from the ground up. At first we roughly set key height and key dip, later we will really dial in the regulation making sure each key plays to the best of its ability.

Almost ready for new strings!

When we rebuild older pianos like this, we usually find cracks in the soundboard or bridges. Sometimes they are very large which can buzz or distort the sound, other times they are very very small, especially around the bridge pins.

While everything is removed, we address all of these cracks with different methods and techniques to make sure you get the best possible tone out of the new strings and hammers.
