Fort Smith Citizen's Police Academy Alumni Association The Official page of the FSPD Citizen's Police Academy Alumni Association!! Membership dues are paid yearly in the amount of $20.

The Citizen’s Police Academy Alumni Association is an organization made up of graduates of the Fort Smith Police Department’s Citizen’s Police Academy. The CPAAA was organized to serve as ambassadors for the Fort Smith Police Department and to aid the department in various activities deemed to be safe and appropriate for civilians. The CPAAA also seeks to advance the concept of Community Policing

and promote the Citizen’s Police Academy. The CPAAA is not used nor operated for private profit, and no property of the association shall be used for the furtherance of private profit of any member or special group. The CPAAA shall not be used for any purpose other than for benevolent, charitable, scientific, and educational purposes conducive to the well-being of the community and useful to the public or law enforcement agency. The CPAAA is a subsidiary organization under the direction and oversight of the Fort Smith Police Department. The CPAAA meets quarterly at the Fort Smith Police Training Center located at 8400 Zero Street. A copy of the organizational bylaws can be provided upon request.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our President of the Citizens Police Academy Board, Chuck Neuman.

We extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time. We are grateful for the time we shared with Chuck and will cherish the memories he left behind.

We will miss you dearly, Chuck. 🖤💙

WEEK 4 ✅

Use of Force policies 📜—We learned how officers make split-second decisions based on the level of threat, and how every action has to be justified, reasonable, and within policy. 🎯

Then we put it to the test in the use of force simulator! 🎮 Each scenario had everyone thinking fast & realizing just how quickly situations can escalate. It’s not as easy as it looks, and every choice matters. 👏🏻

Week 3 ✅

Tonight we got a behind-the-scenes look at the Dispatch/Communications Unit 📞—and WOW, they are the true first responders! Hearing what they handle daily and how they stay calm under pressure gave us a whole new level of respect 👏🏻

We also dove into patrol officer response 🚓💨 and got hands-on with a mock 911 call—which turned into a live scenario!

On top of that, we learned how to write a police report 📝 and got to check out patrol gear & equipment 🔦
