Very close call for this person... Engine mount actually broke from the firewall on his Cessna 182A. This is the reason why Cessna had a service bulletin about the engine mount color and they now paint their mounts light Gray. Cracks are extremely hard to find in black mounts, but clearly stand out in Gray. Second image shows the mount unbroken from the other side.

Do you suspect a loss of power? This person did, his manifold pressure was 2" below max redline and thought his turbo or wastegate was out of adjustment. However I found a weak #2 cylinder, if you zoom in close you can see it's cracked from the exhaust valve on the left - to the spark plug hole. This is a common problem, especially on turbo charged engines that are more often "shock cooled"

Another installation about wrapped up - upgraded by removing the old Hoskins Fuel flow monitor, replaced with an Insight G4 complete engine monitoring system. It gives you data about cylinder temperature, oil press, OAT, even engine horsepower. It also data logs everything on the SD card.

Just finished this installation of a spoiler kit, from Spoilers Inc. on a Cessna 340.
