IMPORTANT:
On account of numerous trackwork projects throughout the summer, The Southwest Chief will begin a modified schedule with trains 3 & 4 originating on 29MAY. They will depart the origin earlier and arrive at the destination later, allowing extra time to accommodate freight congestion, single-tracking and restricted speeds through work zones. The change is in effect through trains departing their origins on 07OCT.

If you're traveling between 29MAY and 07OCT, please be aware of the adjusted times. You don't want to miss your train.

Mr. James Knapp is a recognizable staple in the Fort Madison Community. As someone who retired after decades of teaching art and coaching sports in the school district plus his continued loyal volunteering at the Fort Madison Area Arts Association, it's no wonder everyone knows him. He has captured the beauty of many sites, buildings, people and fur babies.

Andrew Fletcher is a railroad artist that has been drawing the majority of his life. He has drawn over 3000 steam, diesel, electric & traction railroad pieces, including specialty paint schemes. His work is highly detailed and the true to life colors stand out.

Pack your bags and come pay a visit to Fort Madison. Our Railfans rave about all there is to see and do. North Lee County Historical Society makes sure there is ample seating to bask in the sun and enjoy dozens of trains per day. Chi at Visit Fort Madison will get you all set up with the must visit restaurants and points of interest. The Amtrak station provides an air conditioned reprieve from the hot sun or maybe just a little shade in the portico will do the trick. This is also where you'll probably find a light breeze!
