Another warm welcome for The World Residences at Sea!

The Port of Sokcho-si made the inaugural call truly memorable. Residents & Guests (R&G) were welcomed with a traditional band performance and a Korean traditional music quartet, followed by interactive experiences inside the terminal, including Korean fan-making with names written in Korean, as well as a Hanbok experience and photo booth where R&G could dress in traditional costumes.

The hospitality continued right through departure, with an impressive fireworks display to send us off. A fantastic maiden call and a wonderful showcase of Sokcho-si’s warmth, culture, and hospitality.

Aboard the Seven Stars in Kyushu, the journey through Japan unfolded at a slower pace, with every detail offering a closer connection to the island.

Privately chartered for The World, the three-night rail Overland Journey brought Residents & Guests further inland into lesser-traveled corners of Kyushu, where the scenery shifted from volcanic landscapes to quiet countryside and timeless villages. Regional cuisine and carefully curated excursions offered another perspective on a destination already rich in history and tradition.

Executive Chef Geoffrey accompanied the journey, bringing the culinary experience of The World alongside the train’s celebrated approach to Kyushu’s regional cuisine.

The places we visit become part of our journey, and caring for them is part of that experience and responsibility.

Through beach cleanups in destinations around the world, The World’s Crew comes together to help preserve the coastlines and communities that welcome us. Our Florida Office team also takes part in these efforts, extending that commitment beyond the Ship and into our local community.
Every piece collected is a small reminder that even the simplest actions can help protect the places we are fortunate enough to explore.

Our programming brings Residents & Guests together with Honored Speakers and Lecturers through engaging talks, intimate conversations, workshops, and virtual sessions. The subjects are as varied as the people who lead them, offering opportunities to explore new ideas, gain fresh perspectives, and deepen an understanding of the world around us.

Lectures are also available through the Ship’s Video on Demand system, allowing Residents to revisit a favorite conversation or enjoy a program at their own pace.

It’s an ongoing exchange of ideas that remains an integral part of life aboard The World.
