Everglades Holiday Park had a wonderful time attending National Night Out at Pine Island Park last night. We were proud to join the City of Plantation Police Department for an evening focused on community, connection, and bringing neighbors together.

Our team brought several of the animals featured in our animal encounters, giving families the opportunity to meet them up close, learn more about them, and enjoy a hands on wildlife experience. It was a pleasure meeting everyone who stopped by, asked questions, took photos, and spent time with our animals.

Thank you to the Plantation Police Department for inviting us to be part of such a positive community event. We truly enjoyed sharing the evening with everyone who attended.

It’s mealtime for Spike, and Ethan is serving up a few pieces of chicken. Baby alligators are born with natural hunting instincts, and they begin eating small prey such as insects, fish, frogs, and other easy to catch food. They also grow quickly during their early years with the right care and nutrition. Guests may even get the chance to meet one of our juvenile alligators up close during an Animal Encounter at Everglades Holiday Park.

Devin is feeding the rescued alligators in the Gator Pit at Everglades Holiday Park and even calls out Seabass along the way. Alligators can replace thousands of teeth throughout their lifetime, and the sensitive receptors around their jaws help them detect movement in the water. It is always interesting to see how each gator responds during feeding time.

Ethan is feeding Nemo, one of our juvenile alligators, during this week’s feeding. His diet can include rats, chicken, and other food sources to provide balanced nutrition as he continues to grow. Juvenile alligators are already capable hunters, and their growth rate can vary depending on factors like food availability, habitat, and temperature.

Devin is spending some time with Lil Jon, one of our rescued alligators, while explaining one of the most important parts of an alligator’s body, its powerful tail. An alligator’s tail provides the strength to propel it through the water, helps with quick turns, and even stores energy reserves. It is an incredible tool that makes these ancient reptiles perfectly adapted for life in the Everglades.
