We recently caught up with Norma Trease, the new Interim CEO of The International SeaKeepers Society, to talk about their work protecting our oceans and how the boating community can get involved.

One of the coolest parts? You don’t need a superyacht to make a difference.

From small tenders and runabouts to large yachts, boat owners can join the SeaKeepers Discovery Fleet and take part in citizen science projects happening locally and around the world.

After 28 years, 500+ projects across more than 50 countries, and thousands of students reached through ocean education, SeaKeepers continues to find ways to connect the boating community with real ocean science.

Kinda badass when your “job” is basically talking about boats all day. ⚓️

Somewhere along the way, boating became a lot more than something we did on weekends.

It became the people we meet.
The places we travel.
The industry we work in.
The memories we make with our families.
And somehow… even the “work trips” aren’t too bad. 😂

Florida’s boating community has an opportunity to support the future of the marine industry in a very simple way.

The statewide goal is 3,000 specialty plate vouchers. So far, 1,331 have been claimed, leaving 1,669 still needed. ⚓️

Why does it matter?

These vouchers help unlock ongoing funding for maritime education, STEM programs and career pathways across Florida, helping support the next generation of marine professionals.

There are still 44 counties that need support, and just 38 vouchers from each remaining county would be enough to push the campaign past its goal.

The voucher is free, takes about a minute to claim, and no payment or donation is required.

🗓️ Deadline: October 15, 2026.

If you’re a Florida vehicle registrant, now is the time to help move this initiative forward.

Yesterday was all about good conversations and connecting with people across the marine industry at Triton’s Crew, Captains & Connections event.

We also had the opportunity to introduce the new Dockside Pros app and share what we’ve been working on with the community in person.

One Of The Biggest Marine Industry Deals In History Was Just Announced.

Safe Harbor has entered into an agreement to acquire MarineMax in a transaction valued at approximately $1.5 billion.

If completed, the deal would bring a significant part of the boating ecosystem under one ownership umbrella, from marinas and boat sales to yacht brokerage, manufacturing, financing, insurance and marine technology.

It’s another major move toward consolidation in the marine industry, and one worth watching.

At 323 meters, ULYSSIA is being designed as a private residential yacht community with 122 residences, 22 guest suites, seven dining venues, extensive wellness and medical facilities, a private marina, a yacht club, a helipad, and equipment built for exploration above and below the water.

Residents will be able to travel between iconic destinations and remote parts of the world while keeping the privacy, services, and familiarity of home with them.

Designed by naval architect Espen Øino, ULYSSIA is expected to begin its maiden voyage from Monaco in 2031.
