Check your cruise port times before planning your day.

Not all port days are equal, and timing matters more than you think.

Before you book excursions or make big plans, check:
🔹 Arrival + departure times (some ports are short stops)
🔹All-aboard time vs sail-away time (they’re not always the same)
🔹 Ship time vs local time (this can trip people up)
🔹 Distance to what you want to do (and realistic transit time)
🔹 Buffer time for traffic, lines, and “getting back through security”

That’s how you avoid the stressful sprint back to the ship, and actually enjoy the day.

Learn one local etiquette tip before you go.

You don’t need to master a whole culture, but taking 5 minutes to understand one local norm can make your trip feel smoother and more connected.

A few examples of what I mean:
🔹 greetings (handshakes, bows, cheek kisses)
🔹 shoes on/off in homes or certain spaces
🔹 tipping expectations (or when tipping is not expected)
🔹 dress guidelines for religious sites
🔹 dining basics (sharing plates, quiet voices, pace of meals)

It’s not about getting everything perfect, it’s about being aware.

Look at the total trip cost — not just the price tag.

That “great deal” can add up fast once the extras start rolling in.

Before you book, take a minute to factor in:
🔹 Flights + baggage fees
🔹 Transfers/transportation (airport to hotel, rental car, parking)
🔹 Resort fees + taxes
🔹 Food & drinks (if not included)
🔹 Excursions/activities
🔹 Travel protection (highly recommended for many trips)
🔹 Tips/gratuities
🔹 Location costs (are you paying more to get where you actually want to be?)

Sometimes the cheaper option ends up costing more, or just isn’t as enjoyable when everything is an add-on.
