We took 3 tracks today. Only 1 had ended with deer for the hunter. Can be hard to decide what tracks to take on rifle shots so we do as many as possible even if there is no evidence of Hit.
The first shot had white hair and hunter tracked small drops of blood for about 200yds. We couldn't advance this track at all and got to be very frustrating restarting multiple times without success. Hopefully it was only a flesh wound.
The 2nd hunter had good blood and tracked several hundred yds onto nieghbors property and obtain permission. We started at last blood and Kreed never skipped a beat we found only a few drops of blood every 50 yds or so and about 250 yds in we stopped to wait for the hunter when the hunter caught up all of sudden the deer jumped up 20 yds in front of us. The hunter was not carrying a rifle due to being on others property. So I continued to see how far it would go. In about 75 yds we jumped it up again this time I watched it stop 80 yds in front of me way to far for my pistol. Now we were on the edge of another property so the hunter called them and they said he could go look for the deer but didn't want a dog on the property. So we left. The hunter went back 2 hrs later and found the deer 100 yds from where we stopped. That's the picture below.
Congratulations to the hunter!
The 3rd track the hunter could not find any hair or blood but the deer walked off wasn't running. Kreed just did some circling at first then took a line for about 100yds and started circling again. We restarted 3 times to make sure but couldn't advance past 100yds. I'm pretty sure it was a miss.

Thank you all for the call and donations!

We took a call last night 9 hrs after the hunter shot a buck twice. leg and possibly gut. Within 200 yds from last blood we began finding bloody beds. Then after the 4th bed Kreed began to bark and the chase was on. Every 75 to 100 yards we would find beds but couldn't get our eyes on it to dispatch. It circled back towards the road we started on and into hay field. We passed 3 blood beds along the 300 yd trail in the field then stopped at the road where it crossed for the night.

The next morning 21 hrs from original shot we started at the road and went 150 yards through field to edge of wood lot. The hunter said there's a deer 75 yards in front of us and I said if you got a good shot take it. It was all over after that shot

Congratulations to hunter and thanks for the call and donation!

Hunter shot at a buck at 7am. Watched it hunch up and run. He waited a half hour before checking hit site. He had blood but found some corn in it so backed out to give it time.
We arrived 5 hrs after shot and Kreed took us straight to the prize about 30 yds away in the brush. Probably the shortest track ever but why not utilize one's own tracking dog for one's own deer. LOL

I had a friend call asking advice about a rifle shot taken in morning. He believed it was gut shot but only found a little hair and no blood. He only searched around the hit site and backed out. Wanted to know how long to give it beforegrid search. Since Kreed was feeling better in the last week I decided to take him to just see if I could get him on a blood trail and see what his reaction was. We arrived 6 hrs after shot. Kreed sniffed the scene out then proceeded down the hill. He took us 250 yds on a bloodless trail to dead dear in less then 5 minutes. Nice easy track for him coming off the back injury. The shot entered near hind and hit guts, liver and lung without an exit. Not 1 drop of blood.
Congratulations to hunter and thanks for the call!

Nice to hear from a hunter we tracked from last week with proof of life. It's not always about putting one on the tailgate. Kreed tracked this buck 24hrs after the shot it bled like crazy for about 100yds then stopped we advanced the track another 150 yds with only a few more spots of blood then Kreed began to circle. We did jump a big deer but it was not hurt. I believe it was a low brisket hit.

A friend called last night said his son shot a buck and they tracked it 100yds and jumped it out of a bed. The bed had some blood in the center but not much of a trail. He had white hair at the hit sight. We both decided to give it the night and go in at 7am.
As we walking in Kreed started squirming wanting to get down I could tell he smelled something. I waited till we got to the bed where the hunter left his hat. Kreed went down the hill and into a valley with his nose in the air circling around. The hunter said the deer ran along the side hill so I restarted and Kreed then went along the side hill but down alittle we get 50yds in and hunters father said he could see it. Kreed turned up the hill and right for it as soon as we got under. The strong scent was settled in at bottom of hill but once he got under it he locked in for the prize. I'm sure they could have found it this morning without Kreed but it was nice to be part of the youth hunt. Congratulations to the hunter and thanks for the call!
