Late Weekend Nor’easter Threat Building

Bottom line: The National Weather Service warns of a potentially significant and long-duration coastal storm from Saturday night through Monday — possibly lingering into Tuesday — with risk of moderate to major coastal flooding, significant beach erosion, and strong to damaging northeast winds along the Shore, especially Barnegat Bay southward and Delaware Bay.

Winds: Gusts up to 60+ mph possible along the coast, 30–50 mph inland to the I-95 corridor. Power outages, blowing sand, and structural strain possible.

Coastal flooding: King Tides plus persistent onshore winds could bring moderate to major flooding during multiple high-tide cycles Sunday and Monday. Back bays and tidal rivers are especially vulnerable.

Rain: 1–2+ inches likely, locally 3–5 inches near the coast.

Storm setup:

A coastal low will form near the North Carolina coast late Saturday and strengthen as it moves north Sunday into early next week. Its track depends on how it interacts with a high over Nova Scotia, a low over the Great Lakes, and even Tropical Storm Jerry.

➡️ Farther offshore = lower, but still notable, impacts
