MAJOR BREAKTHROUGH & UPDATE: Claims Victory!
After weeks of unrelenting fighting, scrubbing, and documenting every inch of destruction, we finally received the confirmation we’ve been waiting for:
THE INSURANCE CLAIM HAS BEEN APPROVED!
The claims manager reviewed all of our photo and video evidence and agreed with what we’ve been saying from Day 1: This loss was caused directly by covered water intrusion.
It was never just about mold—it was about the severe water damage that started it all. Having that officially recognized is a massive victory for us.
The Battle Isn't Over
While this approval brings critical immediate relief for our emergency cleanup and storage needs, we are not stopping here.
We are holding both Allstate and our Landlord fully accountable. You have upended our lives, ruined our business, and forced us into an exhausting daily fight just to survive. We will continue pressing forward with our legal team to ensure full recovery for every single dollar lost, every ruined asset, and every bit of hardship caused by this negligence.
What Comes Next:
Moving forward with the cleaning, hand-sanitizing, and POD storage process.
Tackling ongoing RV plumbing repairs so we have a reliable space to operate from.
Pursuing full legal recovery for our business lost revenue (Fibrenew Asheville) and commercial accounts.
To everyone who has donated, shared our updates, and stood by us while we fought through this nightmare: THANK YOU. Your support kept us going when we were being pushed to the brink.
Please keep sharing our story as we take this victory and keep fighting!

GoFundMe Update Draft (Day 21)
Here is a clean, raw, and powerful draft for your GoFundMe update. It tells the exact story of where you are, calls out the insurance/landlord nightmare directly, and asks for a volunteer hand with the heavy lifting.
🚨 Update: Day 21 — Long Days, Untold Damage, and Request for Help 🚨
We are officially at Day 21, and the physical and emotional exhaustion is setting in deep.
Here is where things stand right now:
🧹 Progress & Process (2nd & 3rd Floors)
* Progress: Most of the 2nd and 3rd floors are sanitized. We retrieved three more carloads of items that cannot be fogged.
* The Process: Every single item has to be washed five total times to guarantee we don't track spore contamination into our clean spaces or storage:
* Initial wash inside
* Second cleaning
* Third cleaning
* Fourth cleaning before leaving the house
* Fifth and final clean outside right before it goes into storage.
* Loading Strategy: Non-foggable items are going into our storage units first. Everything that can be fogged is being loaded into our 28-foot trailer, where it will be fogged as the final batch.
💪 Heavy Lifting & Volunteer Need for Sunday!
We still have a full day of work on the upper floors, including moving heavy furniture downstairs.
My poor wife is completely worn out from days of non-stop scrubbing and lifting. If anyone has some spare time this Sunday and doesn't mind helping move heavy furniture downstairs, we would be beyond grateful for the hand!
☣️ The Physical Toll & The Unseen Mold
Even after a month and a half of airing the place out with an air purifier running, opening up the closed-off closets and food pantry still leaves me with that horrific "itchy skin" feeling—like being covered in fiberglass insulation. It’s a constant physical reminder of what we are breathing in.
⚠️ Next Up: Downstairs & Ground Zero
Next week, we face the hardest part: moving downstairs where the real destruction lives. The air handler in the garage blew toxic mold straight through the system. That area is currently quarantined off, and we haven't touched the AC since we returned on June 16th.
💔 The Total Loss & Corporate Abandonment
Since returning home on June 16th, I haven't been able to work a single day:
* Fibrenew Asheville is permanently closed.
* My used car inspection accounts (like Steve’s Auto Sales) are gone.
* We have lost almost everything we own.
And through all of this, our landlord, Allstate, and State Farm have left us completely on our own.
I'm old enough to remember when you called your insurance agent and they’d be at your door in a heartbeat to help. Today? They just hunt for loopholes to deny claims, treating water damage like it's your fault, leaving you with an inventory form and a wave goodbye.
The last time a mold company stepped foot in our place was the Friday before the 4th of July weekend—and their water extractor never even worked the entire time it was there. (Meanwhile, our consumer dehumidifiers fill up in under an hour!).
🙏 How You Can Help
We still have a very long road to recovery ahead of us. If you can:
* Lend a hand Sunday with heavy lifting (DM us!).
* Share this update on Facebook or local groups.
* Donate to help cover our skyrocketing POD rentals, storage shed costs, and RV plumbing repairs.
Every prayer, share, and dollar keeps us afloat. Thank you all for not letting us fight this completely alone.

🚛 UPDATE: Storage Solutions & The Reality of RV Prep 🚛
We wanted to give everyone an honest look at where things stand right now and the massive hurdles we've been working through over the last few days.
Here is what our week actually looked like:
Storage Infrastructure: We now have two 16-foot POD containers delivered on-site. To help handle the long-term holding of our home's items that simply won't fit inside an RV, we also had to invest in a $6,000 storage shed.
RV Set-Up Havoc: My wife and I spent Thursday through Sunday trying to get the RV fully situated on-site so we'd have a functional place to operate from. Unfortunately, last winter's 1^\circ\text{F} freeze took a brutal toll on the plumbing system:
Replaced 5 broken connectors and the kitchen faucet so far.
Found 2 additional active leaks.
The water pump is leaking at the head casing—pulling air into the system and losing water pressure.
The hot water tank piping broke, meaning the entire hot water tank will need to be replaced.
The Reality of the Cleanup: Because of all the time lost battling broken water pipes and RV repairs, we were only able to dedicate Sunday entirely to cleaning the townhouse. We spent the entire day scrubbing, hand-sanitizing, and prepping items, which yielded one small SUV load ready to move out.
It is slow, painstaking work, and every single day brings a new unexpected repair or expense. But we are taking it one pipe, one box, and one day at a time.
Thank you all so much for continuing to support us, share our story, and help us cover these mounting storage and mitigation costs!

Campaign Update: A Major Step Forward & A Hard Decision
Hey everyone,
We wanted to give you all a quick update on where things stand. First and foremost, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the incredible support, messages, and donations. It has truly kept us going through one of the most stressful times of our lives.
Things have moved very fast over the last few days. We have officially retained legal counsel through King Law Offices to handle the severe environmental issues and property damage at our townhome. Because the landlords attempted to suddenly hand the property off to a management company right as things got legally serious, our attorney has fast-tracked a formal demand letter to hold them directly accountable for the toxic conditions and our ruined belongings.
We also just discovered that our next-door neighbors—whose unit was the source of the initial leak—have completely packed up and vacated their home as well. Because the landlords never opened up or dried out their side of the shared wall, the trapped moisture made the situation completely unlivable. Seeing their empty unit is bittersweet, but it completely validates everything we’ve been fighting for: this building is fundamentally unsafe.
Knowing that this property is a certified environmental hazard, we have made the definitive choice to take the landlords up on their offer to exit our lease immediately. We cannot risk our health or our future by staying a second longer. We are actively securing a temporary housing setup that will accommodate us safely without the constant fear and stress hanging over our heads.
Our legal team is handling the recovery of our security deposit, our logistics, and our extensive contents damage claim. We are finally starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel, but the road to replacing what we lost and getting fully resettled is still ahead of us.
Please continue to share our page, and thank you again for standing in our corner. We couldn't do this without you.
With love and gratitude,
Michael & Kristi Nally

🚨 THE CONTAMINATION IS SPREADING: The Lethal Systemic Failure at 2 Hillsboro Drive 🚨
We are posting a second critical update today because the public and our community need to understand the sheer scale of the negligence we are dealing with. We are almost into our third week of total silence and zero contact from Allstate (the landlord’s insurance company). They are completely ghosting us while a environmental disaster festers.
Here is the terrifying reality of what the restoration companies have uncovered:
The Air Supply is Poisoned: The main air handler for the entire building sits directly inside the garage—the exact room with the 74,833 toxic mold spore count.
Holes in the Ductwork: Inspectors found physical holes rusted and broken inside the air handler’s ductwork. Because the landlord refused to properly remediate a pipe burst all the way back in February, this system has been actively sucking in toxic spores and blasting them straight up into the HVAC system.
The Entire Building is Contaminated: These toxic spores haven't just stayed in the garage. They have been forcefully pumped through the ventilation system into the second and third-floor townhouses. The entire vertical structure is compromised.
Despite this massive airborne contamination, the restoration company has stated multiple times that they are still not authorized to clean our property. They are claiming they are only authorized to clean what "physically has mold growing on it," completely ignoring the fact that invisible, toxic microscopic spores have been blasted onto every square inch of our equipment by the HVAC system.
It is an absolute joke. They want us to take back contaminated tools and equipment that have been marinating in a poisoned air stream.
We are being forced to inherit the physical and financial fallout of a landlord who cut corners in February, and an insurance company (Allstate) that thinks if they ignore us long enough, we will just go away.
We aren't going away. Our credit, our businesses, and our health are on the line.
If you want to help us fight this corporate cover-up, please take action right now:
1. SHARE THIS POST. We need to break the silence and let the community see what is happening at this property.
2. Support our Emergency Fund: Help us cover the $48,000 professional cleaning bill the insurance companies are trying to dodge so we can salvage our livelihood.

Thank you for helping us expose this. Stay safe out there.

🚨 THE UNTOLD STORY: Why We Are Fighting for the Survival of Our Businesses 🚨
To our clients, partners, and the Asheville community: This is the first official update on this page, and we are breaking our silence because we have hit a critical wall. We need you to know exactly what is happening behind the scenes and why our entire operation has been put in extreme jeopardy.
On June 16th, our facility at 2 Hillsboro Drive was completely shut down. Why? Because a neglected February pipe burst caused by our landlord resulted in a catastrophic toxic mold outbreak. The official air quality testing came back with a staggering 74,833 mold spore count per cubic meter—nearly 500% over toxic thresholds.
We were forced to immediately vacate the property for our own physical safety. But the real nightmare started after we left.
Right now, we are being entirely abandoned by the massive insurance corporations who are supposed to protect us:
The Landlord & Allstate (The Landlord's Insurance): There is a complete wall of silence. Allstate has refused to communicate with us, and they are doing everything in their power to dodge accountability and avoid paying to clean our heavily contaminated equipment, tools, and inventory.
State Farm (Our Insurance): Their idea of "helping" us? They actually expected us to risk our health, walk back into a room with a 74,833 toxic spore count, and do our own manual inventory. No proper protective gear, no professional help—just put your lungs on the line so we can check a box.
Because of this corporate negligence, we just received a formal estimate stating it will cost $48,000 just to have our property and business equipment professionally cleaned. That is on top of the $13,500 we have already burned through out-of-pocket just to survive being displaced.
Meanwhile, I am on my third solid week of zero income, heading into a fourth. Our credit cards are maxed out at 28% interest just from emergency housing costs. Our entire business lifelines—including the transition of our shipping, transportation, and franchise ventures—are being actively choked out today, July 2nd, because two major unfunded payments are due that threaten our credit and our business buyouts.
We are fighting with everything we have through our legal team, but the legal process takes time, and the financial bleeding is happening right now.
If you believe in local business, if you believe in holding predatory landlords and corrupt insurance companies accountable, please stand in our corner.
How you can help right now:
1. DONATE or SHARE our GoFundMe: Even if you cannot donate, hitting the SHARE button beats the algorithm and gets this story out to the people who can help us fight.
2. Spread the Word: Let Asheville know what Allstate and State Farm are doing to small business owners.

Thank you for standing with Absolute Shipping and Transportation, Fibrenew Asheville, and our family. We are down, but we are not out.
