These are what EMS heroes look like! What a truly inspirational story of interagency teamwork and critical care training to preserve life and make a difference for a family of our mountain town! Thank you Guardian Medical Transport and Flagstaff Fire Department.

Some calls stay with us forever.

Recently, crews from Flagstaff Fire Department and Guardian Medical Transport responded to a critical emergency involving a newborn baby in severe distress. Through the coordinated efforts of dispatch personnel, first responders and EMS personnel, that child is alive today and continuing to do well.

Today, those crews of firefighters and medics had the opportunity to reunite with the family and meet the little fighter again — a moment none of us will forget.

In this profession, we often don’t get to see the outcome after the call ends. Being able to witness healing, hope, and a healthy future for this child was incredibly meaningful for everyone involved.

Thank you to the family for allowing us to share this special moment, and thank you to the crews from our dispatch center and Guardian Medical Transport for the compassion, professionalism, and teamwork shown that day.

This National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week begins April 13, and we are celebrating our Guardian Medical Transport Communications Center team. Our dispatchers receive calls for emergency and non-emergency medical and fire response, wildland fire support and more. As the vital link between our patients and lifesaving care, their support keeps northern Arizona safe.

Today and every day, we thank them for their dedication to those we serve.
