BEFORE YOU DEMOB, KNOW WHAT'S ACTUALLY ON THE GROUND.

A crushing contractor brought FlagAerial in after they believed they were finished crushing material for a project.

Before demobilizing equipment, they wanted to confirm the actual quantities sitting on the ground.

That's where aerial mapping can provide some real value.

We mapped the site, processed the imagery in Pix4D, and calculated individual stockpile volumes from the resulting 3D dataset.

The project included multiple material areas and controlled ground points. The Pix4D quality report showed approximately 0.079 ft RMS vertical error on the ground control used for the project.

Why verify before you demobilize?

Because mobilization costs are already significant. If you discover later that you need more material processed and have to bring equipment back, an unexpected return mobilization can quickly change the economics of the job.

Aerial mapping gives the project team another piece of information before making that decision.

🚨 WE WEREN'T LOOKING FOR THIS…

We were mapping a 40-acre mine site when I noticed something happening on one of the conveyors.

The belt wasn't tracking correctly. Video in comments.

A portion of it was already coming off the pulley, and you can actually see a cut developing in the belt.

I've spent a lot of years around construction, mining and crushing operations, so when something doesn't look right, I tend to notice it.

We weren't hired to inspect the conveyor.

We didn't diagnose the problem.

We just happened to catch it.

Kinsey School update 7-14-2026
Flew the Kinsey School again today — cool seeing how fast this project is moving. Foundations growing, framing going up, and the whole site taking shape. Always fun watching Flagstaff projects come together from the air.

Side note: to whomever keeps reporting me to the FAA for posting these pictures & stating I fly illegal, I made it super easy for you. I have attached a picture of myself taking a picture of myself flying my drone, same location. If you could send that screenshot in, it would sure help the FAA drone guys. They know me by my government name, not Scott, thanks.
