Today we celebrate Rural Transit Day!
Every day, ALDOT's Transit Section helps connect Alabama's rural communities to jobs, medical appointments, education, shopping and other essential destinations.
During Fiscal Year 2025:
• 29 rural transit providers served communities across Alabama.
• Nearly 1 million passenger trips were provided.
• More than 6 million passenger service miles were traveled.
• ALDOT also supported approximately 126 transportation providers serving seniors and individuals with disabilities through the Federal Transit Administration's Section 5310 Program.
• Through the Rural Transportation Assistance Program, ALDOT provided training that helped 306 drivers meet their required annual certification.
Reliable transportation strengthens communities and improves quality of life. Thank you to the drivers, dispatchers, mechanics and transit professionals who keep Alabama moving every day.
