Some of the best! See that guy on the right, if you've worked with us, then you've met Hagen! Craig Transport drivers have leaned on him for quite a few years when learning the ins and outs of sheep and goat handling. We are lucky to have this man in our corner, and Emily is just the best as well!
Behind the brand. Behind the hustle.
Lonesome Dove Rodeo
-Mini Broncs & Mutton Busters
The Hohertz Ranch was established in 1890, and in 1989 Daddy Hohertz coined it “The Lonesome Dove”...he kind of loved the movie. Today, the Lonesome Dove Ranch is home to part of the family business: Lonesome Dove Rodeo-Mini Broncs & Mutton Busters.
In 2003 a little cowboy wanted to ride some sheep, and since his dad owned a sheep and goat auction barn, they decided to go ALL IN! A spark was ignited! Heath bought his first herd of muttons, contracted with surrounding rodeos, and started bustin’ muttons.
Around 2009, a little cowgirl wanted to ride buckin’ horses, which got two old cowboys to thinkin’ about the future of rodeo and rough stock riders. Pace’s daughter was riding mini broncs at the Tom Butler, so the men bought some buckin’ horses, contracted with more rodeos, and well…you get the picture.
Today, Heath travels around Texas and New Mexico providing muttons and mini broncs, throw in the occasional stick horse ranch rodeo or goat roping, to youngster under 12. His commitment to kids, agriculture, and the future of rodeo is evident in everything he does. His comment to anyone who asks about what he does is, “We’re here for the kids.” Lonesome Dove Rodeo-Mini Broncs & Mutton Busters currently provides stock for some of the smallest as well as some of the biggest rodeos in Texas and New Mexico. He thrives on quality stock, efficiently maneuvering kids in and out of the arena, and building lasting relationships. His ultimate goal is to have his mini broncs as part of the qualifier for the Junior NFR in Las Vegas, Nevada and the World Finals in Wickenburg, Arizona.
The things we do for kids, especially our own!
