Adding another pilot to the skies! Passed his private pilot checkride! We are excited to share this journey with him and we look forward to working with Colton as he grows in starting his piloting career!

"My flight journey is like others it started has a dream and became a reality. 2 years ago I was sitting in Nicaragua thinking it would be amazing to be a pilot but impossible and One thing I can promise is if you put your mind to something and stick with it consistently you can do anything. I ran the 2026 flying pig full marathon to prove to myself I wouldn’t quit flight training even when it got hard. Spoilers… it got hard but I pushed through with the huge support system around me including the wonderful instructors at hogans and now I go to sleep tonight a Private Pilot. I thank God above all. Blessed."

Shout out to on getting your private pilots license! A true accomplishment and something to be proud of. Tyler showed true dedication and drive pushing through all of the nerves that come with growing as a pilot.

Congratulation on passing your private pilot checkride!

Jon's story;

“I’ve been fascinated by aviation for as long as I can remember. Whenever I flew on a commercial flight, I was the one taking photos and videos of nearly every moment. I admired pilots, but I never imagined that one day I could become one.

I thought about learning to fly in my 20s and again in my 30s, but life always got in the way. It wasn’t until I earned my FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate. Studying aviation opened a door I didn’t know existed, and I realized I wanted to learn far more than what was required to fly a drone.

When I finally decided it was time to pursue my Private Pilot Certificate, choosing Hogan Flight Services was an easy decision. The more I learned about the Hogan family’s history, the more I knew it was where I wanted to train. Seeing the old photographs and reading how the Hogan family built Hamilton Airport, which eventually became Butler County Regional Airport, Hogan Field, made me feel like I was becoming part of a legacy that has inspired pilots for nearly a century. That history drew me to Hogan, but it was the people who made the experience unforgettable. From day one, I was surrounded by instructors who genuinely cared about helping me become a safe, knowledgeable, and confident pilot.

Earning my Private Pilot Certificate isn’t the finish line. It’s just the beginning. I’m excited to continue my training, earn my instrument rating, and keep learning for years to come. Looking back, I can see God’s faithfulness throughout this journey, opening doors at the right time and placing the right people in my path. They helped turn a lifelong dream into a reality, and I’ll always be grateful that my aviation journey began there.”

Most pilots don't have their tailwheel, and instead just focus on getting their hours and moving up to the airlines. However, tailwheel aircraft teach pilots the importance of stick and rudder skills. This helps them be better pilots and be more prepared for their day to day flying.

✈️ We offer both rental and instruction in two different tailwheel aircraft. Both a J-3 cub, and a PA-11 cub.
