🚨 Is the transportation industry competing on a level playing field?

A new report from the TTA Foundation suggests the answer is no.

Mobilizing for Fair Regulation & Competition with Transportation Network Companies (TNCs), prepared by the University Transportation Research Center at the City College of New York (UTRC), reveals significant regulatory disparities between Transportation Network Companies (TNCs) and the chauffeured transportation industry.

As TNCs continue expanding and increasingly target the premium transportation market, the question becomes more urgent:

How can regulators ensure fair competition while maintaining safety, accountability, and consumer choice?

This report provides data-driven insights that every transportation operator, policymaker, and industry stakeholder should read: https://ttamembership.wildapricot.org/Sys/Store/Products/414626

What happens when mobility leaders, advocates, and innovators come together in one room? Powerful conversations about the future of independence and accessibility.

This week, TTA and BraunAbility hosted the 2026 Mobility Champions Symposium — two impactful days focused on innovation, resilience, and advancing accessible mobility.

Attendees kicked off the symposium at the Driven NeuroRecovery Center in Indianapolis, touring NeuroHope’s rehabilitation facilities and learning more about the life-changing work being done to support recovery and independence.

We also had the privilege of hearing from inspiring guest speakers including former IndyCar driver and BraunAbility board member Sam Schmidt, along with Darrell Finney, who shared powerful perspectives on perseverance, leadership, and the importance of accessible mobility solutions.

On day two, attendees went behind the scenes at BraunAbility’s headquarters in Winamac, Indiana, where they experienced firsthand the innovation, craftsmanship, and mission that drive the company’s work every day.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and continues pushing the mobility industry forward. The future of accessibility is built through collaboration — and this symposium was a great reminder of what’s possible when passionate people come together.

Autonomous vehicles are coming—but they’re not replacing the industry anytime soon.

At the 2026 Chauffeur Driven/NLA Show, one message was clear: the future of AVs is far more complex—and slower—than the headlines suggest.

Yes, billions are being invested.
Yes, pilot programs are expanding.

But real-world deployment will be shaped by:
• Regulation and federal oversight
• Insurance and liability frameworks
• Workforce and labor policy
• Market demand and operational realities

For limousine and chauffeured transportation operators, the takeaway isn’t disruption—it’s strategy.

TTA’s 2026 Legislative Fly-In is officially in the books, and what a great two days in Washington, D.C.

TTA members held 66 meetings with congressional offices and legislative staff to discuss the issues impacting private passenger transportation, including NEMT waste and abuse, independent contractor protections, passenger safety, micro transit, and the FTA taxi exemption.

We’re also proud to share that more than $30,000 was raised for the TTA PAC during this year’s Fly-In to support ongoing advocacy efforts for our industry.

Thank you to our sponsors — zTrip, ADAboy, The Black Car Fund, Quality Transport NEMT, Research Underwriters, and Obi Rides — for helping make the event possible.

Most of all, thank you to the TTA members who showed up, shared their experiences, and represented the industry so well on Capitol Hill. Your participation is what makes these efforts successful.

Check out the photos below for some highlights from the week.

TTA's message to Congress: Microtransit works best when it’s a partnership—not a competition.

Government plays a critical role in setting rules and ensuring accountability. But innovation, efficiency, and customer experience thrive when the private sector delivers.

Public-private partnerships are how we create better mobility, lower costs, and stronger communities.

Let’s focus on what works. Let’s partner.

Two drivers. Same trip. Different safety rules.

That’s the reality we’re trying to stop.

As we meet with lawmakers, TTA is focused on protecting one critical principle:

If the trip is federally funded, the safety standard should be the same.

Expanding exemptions to drug and alcohol testing—especially for rideshare—creates a two-tier safety system.

And the people most impacted?
• Seniors
• Individuals with disabilities
• Patients relying on essential transportation

Safety is not where we cut corners. “Same trip. Same rules.” should not be negotiable.
