25 years with Sourdough! 🎉
Travis’s history with Sourdough actually started even earlier than that. At just 14 years old, he spent a summer repairing crates, sweeping, cleaning, and doing whatever was needed.
After graduating from Service High School, attending UAA, and earning his CDL, Travis found his way back to Sourdough in September 2001, and he’s been with the company ever since.
Today, Travis is our Anchorage Express Terminal Operations Manager, overseeing more than 50 employees and helping coordinate nearly every part of the operation. On any given day, he’s working with dispatchers, drivers, warehouse, shop and yard crews, managing equipment and property needs, solving problems, and stepping in wherever he’s needed.
After 25 years, one of the things Travis is most proud of isn’t a particular load or project. It’s watching people grow.
“We are training the next generation right now. It’s great to see an employee start as a warehouse employee, become a driver or a mechanic. Three of my former drivers are my current supervisors.”
He’s also been part of some incredible projects, including helping move the old static aircraft from Kulis Air National Guard Base to JBER, with the largest measuring 44 feet wide. More recently, Travis joined the Alaska Trucking Association Board of Directors and traveled to Juneau to represent the industry at the Capitol.
When asked why he’s stayed at Sourdough all these years, Travis comes back to the people and the family-first culture.
When he’s not keeping things moving at the Anchorage terminal, Travis enjoys camping, fishing, hunting, projects around the house, sitting around a good fire, and spending time with his family. And after 25 years with Sourdough, he’s hoping this might finally be the year this lifelong Alaskan gets his first moose. 😉
Travis, congratulations on 25 years with Sourdough! We appreciate the leadership, experience, and care you bring to our team. Thank you for everything you’ve done, and continue to do, for Sourdough. 👏🏼
