UPDATE: Construction by Giants Ridge will continue and the trail will be paved and some things being restored. Trail from Quarry Golf Course of Giants Ridge to Embarrass Lake is closed. Detour is posted and you will go along Giants Ridge Rd. Thanks for supporting the Mesabi Trail.

Today it the DAY!!! Our Great River Energy Mesabi Trail Tour starting and finishing in Embarrass MN and going to McKinley with rest stops along the way. Early Frost Farms is offering a tour of their grounds and feed the chickens. Giants Ridge is at Pool and Sauna Haus and tour their great facility, Biwabik is at our Mesabi Trail Kiosk and their warming house sponsored by Camp Esquamaga with outdoor activities and last rest stop is McKinley sponsored by Iron Range Historical Society. Music at start/finish line, ethnic Finnish Bake Sale, and tours by SISU Historical Society. TODAY IS THE DAY!!!

The Mesabi Trail connects 28 communities with 165 miles of paved trail! Saturday is our Annual Great River Energy Mesabi trail Bike Tour. We will be traveling through a few of those communities from Embarrass to McKinley. If you are still interested, registration is open AT start/finish line at 7am August 1st. We are exactly one week from our Great River Energy Mesabi Trail Bike Tour!! Embarrass to McKinley!!! You can still register but no guarantee on shirt! We will do our best for meal too. The smoke has been away since last Friday and all is good so far! Please come and enjoy the ride. SISU Heritage Society will have an ethnic bake sale, along with tours you can pay for also to visit a few Finnish homesteads. We have entertainment and snacks at the rest stops in Early Frost Farms (which at finish line supplying their famous Vortex Bars), Giants Ridge to tour the Pool and Sauna Haus, Biwabik at our kiosk and McKinley which will showcase Iron Range Historical Society. We have plenty of sponsors that support the Mesabi Trail and swag bag to give away! Check out the tour shirt this year with sponsors on back!!

It was a busy day promoting safety, encouragement, and awareness with bicycles, trail riding and knowing the terrain you ride. Calumet Library hosted Mesabi Trail for bike safety and we had a blast! 21 kids and adults tried the course, helmets, free books and giveaways. Next Measbi Trail went to help with IROC for learn to ride Pump track and Redhead mountain biking. This complex is top notch and a must see. Many kids came and adults accompanied them. They did mile ride and some more. Make sure you check for August for next event August 27th at Redhead. Now we prepare for the Great River Energy Mesabi Trail annual Tour August 1!
