Blue Spring Heritage Center is an incredible, up-close and personal experience with Mother Nature and her magnificent mysteries – and it's an educational and often moving trip down "History Lane," so to speak, as visitors learn how Blue Spring has drawn humans together here for thousands of years – including a nine-day stop by a group of Cherokee people during the 1838-39 Trail of Tears march. Thi
s, along with the ancient American Indian inscriptions and artifacts discovered at the site and estimated by archaeologists to be up to 10,000 years old, landed Blue Spring and its Indian Bluff Shelter on the National Register of Historic Places. All these things also have made Blue Spring Heritage Center and its Wedding Gardens a widely revered and sought-after spot for marriage ceremonies and receptions, large and small. In fact, Blue Spring is the largest outdoor wedding & reception venue in the Northwest Arkansas-Southern Missouri region. One of the few remaining uncapped springs in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, the free-flowing Blue Spring pumps out 38 million gallons of 54-degree water per day, first filling a round, flower-encircled pool, then spilling into a trout-filled lagoon, then over a dam and down a short stream and into the White River. It is said that Blue Spring's source may be as deep as 500 feet below the surface, and some scientists have surmised that the waters of Blue Spring flow underground from the Pacific Northwest, possibly as far away as Alaska. Divers who have explored Blue Spring discovered a complex cave system under the water full of extremely narrow passageways, shifting rock surfaces, and even sunken artifacts dating back hundreds of years. Blue Spring captures the rich history of the Ozark region, from American Indian journeys and early settler life to prehistoric civilization. There is evidence of an Old Mill powered by the spring and other remnants of community centered on the water. With 33 acres filled with exquisite arrays of plants and flowers surrounding Blue Spring and the lagoon, this site has served as a tourist attraction since 1948. Artifacts, old photos, a new, short film spanning the historical and ecological significance of the Blue Spring site, and the walkways through the natural world all await visitors. WEDDING SERVICES
