The McMinn County Radio Control Association is an Academy of Model Aeronautics Gold Leader Chartered Club. The club was chartered in 1978 and consists of Radio Control Pilots from McMinn County and the surrounding area. These are individuals who enjoy flying, building and having fellowship with other model aviation enthusiast. All members must be an AMA Member. You will find that there are many ty

pes of RC Aircraft to build and fly. You can buy already–to-fly aircraft or build a model from a kit. There are RC airplanes of all shapes and sizes, gliders, helicopters, quads and special designed aircraft. The McMinn County Radio Control Association welcomes all Pilots and Guest. Each pilot flying field must be an AMA member. Club monthly meeting is held on the third Saturday of each month at 4 pm at the Flying Field. The Location of the Clubs flying field is on the Harry Morgan Farm, 126 CoRd 876, Etowah, TN. Directions: From Hwy 411 take Hwy 310 (2.6 miles) cut Right on CoRd 475 go (.5 mile) cut Left on CoRd 876, cross bridge, first driveway on right, look for pine trees on right of driveway, cut right at the 9th pine tree, FOLLOW SIGNS into Flying Field area. Hey Club Members,

We will be having our April 2026 club meeting this coming Saturday, April 18, 2026 at 1:00 PM at the flying field. If you have not paid your 2026 dues you can pay them at the meeting. You can also send me a check made out to MCRCA to the address below or Venmo me at -Perdue. The dues for 2026 are $50.

A couple of months ago I sent out an email about possibly doing a model aircraft demonstration on July 4th at Athens regional park. This would start at around 2:00 and go till dark when the fireworks start. This would just consist of flying small park flyers on the baseball field and answering questions if anyone needs more information. We have done this in the past with good success. At this time I have not received much interest from the club members. So far we only have Charlie Musgrove, Demaree Hoover, John Glenn, Randy Miller and Ray Florom. If we don't get enough participation we will have to let the Parks and Recreation director that we will not be able to have the demonstration. Please let me know if you would be interested in participating.

Our March club meeting is scheduled for this Saturday March 21, 2026. I will be out of town that day so we have decided to postpone the meeting until the following Saturday March 28, 2026. Saturday, February 21th the Club held their monthly meeting at the flying field. The weather turned out great and we had a great meeting and flying after the meeting. There was19 members and guest present. We also added one new member. Welcome Bruce Stark!! We are looking for the weather to warm up to do a lot of flying this year. The Labor Day Fun Fly was discussed and plans started for another Great event. A Discussion was held about having a flying demonstration at the Athens Regional Park on the 4th of July. Always support our club during these events!!
