Ski Santa Fe
To our valued Guests and Employees,
Ski Santa Fe will Close for the 2019-2020 Season At Close of Business Sunday March 15th
In the last weeks we have all watched the world and our lives change with the spread of COVID-19. Social distancing, school closures and empty grocery store shelves are part of our daily conversations. In all of this, we at Ski Santa Fe have been asking ourselves what we should be doing in the face of these changes. Our answers have changed daily and sometimes hourly.
While it is certainly possible to ski and ride while maintaining the recommended distance from one another, the reality is that lift lines, restrooms, food facilities, the rental shop and our social nature make social distancing at a ski area nearly impossible. Communities, businesses and governments have begun to face the necessity that sometimes drastic measures are needed to combat the crisis that is facing all of us. In the last few days, ski areas large and small have announced closures both voluntary and directed by government. We have been in conversation with the Governor’s office, and while a closure is not mandated, she has recommended the closure of ski areas throughout the state.
It is with a heavy heart, but full conviction that we have voluntarily chosen to close for the season as of 4:30pm Sunday March 15th in an effort to stop the spread of COVID-19. I have not made this decision lightly, and I fully realize the impacts it has on our day guests, pass holders and our staff. I want nothing more than to remain open and to enjoy a few more weeks of spring skiing, but the collective health and safety of our community must come first.
I sincerely apologize to our guests who have traveled from afar to ski and ride with us. We will refund, without question, any remaining value of day tickets and ski school reservations. To our loyal pass holders; thank you for your continued support, for the fantastic season and for your understanding that our season was cut short. Over these next weeks and months let us all focus on what is important; our friends, loved ones, and the amazing Ski Santa Fe community and family. We will be available on the phones, email and social media to answer questions and provide updates over the coming days. Next winter will be here before we know it and I look forward to seeing you on opening day.
Sincerely,
Ben Abruzzo
