Tires are one of our most common violations, which makes taking the time to properly inspect them especially important. What's one way you check your tires daily?

During every pre-trip, inter-trip, and post-trip inspection, drivers and contractors should take a close look at their tires. Check tire pressure with a gauge, inspect tread depth, and look for cuts, cracks, bulges, uneven wear, or other signs of damage.

Catching an issue early can help prevent an out-of-service violation, but more importantly, it can help prevent a tire failure and keep you and everyone around you safer on the road.

We are proud to recognize Ivory D. a for staying alert and quickly responding on the interstate!

Ivory noticed a car approaching at a high rate of speed in his mirror and began slowing down. Moments later, the car cut into the narrow space between his front bumper and the rear bumper of a truck in the lane beside him. Because Ivory recognized the danger early and began braking before the car entered his lane, he was able to avoid a potential collision.

Ivory joined the team in November 2025 and runs out of our Wichita Falls terminal with his Driver Manager Robert H. His awareness and defensive driving helped keep everyone around him safe.

Carlin T. was recently spotted by I-95 Truckers!

Carlin joined P&S Transportation in April and began his career with us by completing our six-week training program in Savannah, Georgia. He has now been out on the road solo for three months and is putting that training into practice.

Our training program is designed to give new drivers and contractors the hands-on experience, knowledge, and confidence they need before heading out on their own. From learning proper securement techniques to gaining real-world experience behind the wheel, the goal is to build a strong foundation for a safe and successful career.

We are proud to see Carlin out on the road representing P&S and continuing to grow in his career.

This week’s Superstar Sunday is Joe T.!

Joe has been with P&S since 2020 starting in our flatbed 101 program and has accomplished quite a bit during that time. He has earned Driver of the Month, received multiple annual safety awards, he has paid off his truck and is now working towards his second!

Joe was nominated by his Driver Manager, Becky S., who shared: “Joe is always willing to run on the weekends and is usually out there every Sunday. He keeps his logs clean, communicates well, and makes smart decisions about his stops to ensure on-time delivery. Anytime I need someone I can count on, I look to Joe. Once he is loaded, there are no worries. You know the delivery will be there!”

Proper cargo securement can save lives. When hauling shingles, make sure the front and rear pallets are secured with two straps, use a cross strap at the front, and always use corner protectors. Any individual packages on the top layer should be positioned so the straps apply proper downward pressure.

Taking the time to secure each load correctly helps prevent freight from shifting and protects you and everyone sharing the road!

Take the time to thoroughly inspect your brakes during every pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspection. Look for cracks, damage, excessive wear, or anything else that could lead to an issue on the road or a DOT violation.

Address any concerns before getting back behind the wheel and help keep yourself and everyone around you safe.

Brake Safety Week is underway!

Keeping your brakes in good working condition starts with making them a priority during every inspection. Take the time to look for cracks, excessive wear, damage, or anything else that could lead to a problem once you are out on the road.

A thorough brake check can help catch issues early, prevent violations, and most importantly, keep you and everyone around you safe. A few extra minutes during your inspection can make a big difference.
