DEDICATION/RIBBON CUTTING: Enid Woodring Regional Airport Dedicates Infrastructure Projects
ENID, Oklahoma – The KWDG - Enid Woodring Regional Airport marked a significant milestone in Oklahoma’s aviation infrastructure development with a dedication ceremony on Wednesday, November 20, 2024. Hosted in collaboration with the Oklahoma Department of Aerospace and Aeronautics (ODAA), the City of Enid Oklahoma Government, the Office of Local Defense Community Cooperation, and the Oklahoma Department of Commerce, the event celebrated the completion of three major projects aimed at enhancing the airport's capabilities.
The ceremony featured remarks from Senators Roland Pederson and John Haste, Enid Mayor David Mason, Vance Air Force Base Wing Commander Colonel Charles Throckmorton and other distinguished state officials and community leaders. Attendees gathered to commemorate a new 120’ x 120’ Joint-Use Hangar, the reconstruction of 70,000 sq. ft. of apron space, and the construction of eight 48’ x 40’ box hangars.
These projects were made possible through collaborative funding from ODAA’s Hangar Development Grant Program, the Office of Local Defense Community Cooperation’s Defense Community Infrastructure Program, the Oklahoma Department of Commerce’s P3 Program, and the Oklahoma Strategic Military Planning Commission.
The new Joint-Use Hangar had a total project cost of $1.85M and the South Ramp project which consisted of the apron pavement reconstruction and eight box hangars had a project cost of $3.4M. This nearly $5.25M total project was truly a team approach with multiple sources of funding from federal, state, and local partners.
The new infrastructure enhances Enid Woodring Regional Airport’s ability to meet the needs of the aviation industry, providing additional capacity and support for the local community and the nearby military installations.
