If you’re packing up your kitchen like you stack your cupboards, you might be in for a heartbreaking surprise when you open your boxes at the new house!

Stacking plates horizontally flat on top of each other is one of the most common moving mistakes. Cardboard boxes are built to handle vertical pressure, but when plates are laid flat, all the weight forces itself downward onto the bottom plate. One bump in the road, and snap—there goes your favorite dinnerware.

💡 The "Vertical Plate" Pack:
Wrap individually: Wrap each plate securely in bubble wrap or thick packing paper.

Stand them up: Pack them vertically on their edges, exactly like vinyl records in a crate! Plates are significantly stronger on their rims and can easily absorb the normal vibrations and bumps of a moving truck without cracking.
