Slowly, the piece finally comes out of the house—carefully guided step by step and lifted with care. It’s headed for the truck and its new home at the John W. Jones Museum.

A moment of patience, teamwork, and respect for history as something old makes its way toward a new chapter. 🚛🖼️✨

Jeff got a nearby table set up and ready so that once the last screw was out, we could carefully lift the piece off the wall. It was heavy, so having a solid spot to set it down right away made all the difference.

Once freed, we eased it onto the table to give everyone a moment to regroup before the next move—getting it safely loaded into the truck. Every step takes coordination, patience, and a bit of muscle. 💪🪚

Now comes the hard work—figuring out how this piece was attached to the wall all those years ago and how to remove it as gently as possible.

Trevor and Phil were all hands on deck, carefully unscrewing everything by hand and taking their time to make sure nothing gets damaged in the process. 🛠️💪 Every turn of the screw matters when you’re working with something this historic.

A slow, steady effort to make sure it’s preserved the right way for its next home. 🖼️

Talima Aaron, President of the Board of Trustees at the John W. Jones Museum, was on hand to witness the removal of the sculpture at the former Green Pastures Jazz Club.

It was a meaningful moment to have leadership present during the process, ensuring the history and significance of the piece are honored as it begins its next chapter at the museum.

Safety first as always. We got the truck in as far as we could, but it was still a tight squeeze at the site. Out came the safety triangles so oncoming motorists would have clear warning and plenty of time to slow down.

Working in tight spaces like this means staying alert, communicating well, and making sure everyone—crew and drivers alike—stays safe while the job gets done.

The NFA team recently paid a visit to the former Green Pastures Jazz Club in Elmira to help save a sculpture still hanging on the wall and transport it to its new home at the John W. Jones Museum where it will be restored and displayed.

First step was squeezing the truck next to the house—carefully positioning everything so we could safely access and remove the piece before transport.

A small piece of Elmira history on the move, headed to a place where it can be preserved and appreciated for years to come.

A few weeks ago Hayden and I gave the warehouse a good clean and somehow ended up with leftover parts 😄

Not sure how that happened, but Tom was kind enough to take them off our hands — hopefully he’ll find a good use for them somewhere!

Always good to clean things up and keep things moving forward. 💪

While rummaging around a store in Skaneateles, Jeff uncovered an incredible piece of local history — an 1876 map showing the area where Naglee is located today, along with Eldridge Park and the network of railroads that once ran through Elmira. Amazing to see how much history is right beneath our feet! 🇺🇸🗺️🚂
