claystone farm was originated in 1972 by carl and betty nelson. claystone was a dairy farm until the late 70s when the farm switched to polled hereford beef cattle.by the mid 80s the nelsons retired and so did the cattle operation. carl died in 1995 and left the farm to betty and his son michael. and the farm was taken over by michael nelson, carls son. 2005 brought many changes to claystone. buil
dings were demolished, and the property cleaned up. a new horse barn was built and claystone became home to maplewood arabians. one of carls passions was clydesdale horses. he traveled all over the country to see these magnificent horses but never owned any. mike was also a clydesdale fan and in 2010 ,maplewood arabians were joined by claystone farm clydesdales. 2012 brought more changes to the farm. and brought back cattle to the farm. 2014 was a year that brought more changes mike met shanon domenosky and became engaged in july with shanon came brittnie and kimmie, shanons beautiful daughters. shanon and the girls are very much apart of the day to day operations. shanon also made claystone farm home to her infrangible rescue horses. in july NQ Growers was bought out by mike and shanon. in November claystone was officially changed to Claystone Stock Farms Inc.due to the ever changeing markets the cattle operation was shut down in 2018. the buildings were remodeled and now house the clydesdale hitch and breeding operation. 2020 was the first year claystone started to offer lessons and farm tours.claystone farm was also home to the nelson racing, formula indy car team from 1998 till 2008.
