October is National Pedestrian Safety Month!

Whether you’re behind the wheel or on foot, we all have a part to play in keeping our roads safe.

Drivers — slow down, stay alert, and keep an eye out for pedestrians.

Pedestrians — stay visible, avoid distractions, and always be aware of traffic around you.

At Opies Transport, safety is everyone’s responsibility. Let’s look out for each other out there!

At some point in the day, everyone is a pedestrian. October is Pedestrian Safety Month, a good opportunity to increase pedestrian safety messaging across all platforms.

After 22 years with Opies Transport, Dave Shidler is officially retiring!

Dave is from Dewey, Oklahoma, and over the years he has hauled loads all over the country, from Lewiston, Maine, to Carson, California and just about everywhere in between. Dave has always been a loyal and safe driver, but more than that, he’s just a genuinely good guy. No matter what you called him about, you could always count on Dave ending the conversation with “Have a good day.”

When he wasn’t out on the road, Dave enjoyed working on his Chevy. He restored it and ended up giving it to his grandson, which tells you a lot about the kind of guy Dave is.

Now it’s time for him to stay a little closer to home, relax, and enjoy more time with his family.

Dave, thank you for everything you’ve done for Opies over the last 22 years. We’ve been lucky to have you, and we hope you enjoy every minute of retirement!

And in true Dave fashion… Have a good day!

This run takes a lot of patience and skill behind the wheel. It’s a great example of what all of our drivers do every day.

Today, we remember the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the brave first responders who ran toward danger when others were running away. 25 years later, we continue to honor their courage, sacrifice, and the unity our country showed in the days that followed. From all of us at Opies Transport, we remember and honor the heroes and victims of September 11, 2001.

Once a year, we get to make one of our sweetest stops, delivering corn syrup to Aunt June’s Copper Kettle Candies at Silver Dollar City! Pretty cool seeing an Opies tanker right in the middle of Silver Dollar City. Glad we can help keep the candy kettles cooking!

Michele started with us in 2019 and has been an absolute ROCKSTAR of an employee! To make her birthday even more special, her brother played “Happy Birthday” on the guitar and sent it to her. Thank you for everything you do, Michele. We appreciate you and hope you have a great day!

We want to congratulate and thank Richard for his many years of dedication and loyalty to Opies Transport!
Richard started with us in April 2010 behind the wheel of Truck 437, and next Tuesday, September 1, he’ll turn in the keys to Truck 897 for the last time and officially retire after more than 16 years with Opies Transport.
Richard, thank you for everything you’ve done for Opies over the years. We appreciate your hard work, loyalty, and all the miles you’ve put in.
Congratulations on your retirement, Richard! Now it’s time to enjoy the good life: a few cold ones by the pool, plenty of fishing out of your new fishing boat, a cruise with your wife this winter, and lots of time in Florida with the grandkids.
After 16 years and countless miles on the road, we hope retirement brings you plenty of time to relax, travel, fish, and enjoy your family.
