Update: We are inching towards production. We've received a couple gallons of resin and are currently waiting on silicone rubber...somewhere on a FedEx truck in northern NY. Shop is as ready as it's going to get at this point. We've installed the pressure pots and vacuum chambers. We'll put in a big order of miscellaneous stuff (tongue depressors, cups, etc) to the jungle website this week. Spent the afternoon digging through masters for entertainment with a friend.

I thought folks might be interested in seeing a couple of the original Jim Etter casting masters. These are solid polyester resin copies of an original handmade pattern. There were used to create a silicone outer mold. The master was removed and the mold filled with casting resin. A crude plug was then inserted in what would be the bottom of the cab to form a hollow component. Early castings were thick. The aftermarket has learned a lot since this method was used.

I'll probably build a cabinet to display these. They are some of the roots of the aftermarket scale model industry.

Best regards,

Matt

Update: I'm running behind schedule of where I want to be. Shop is insulated, paneled and French cleats installed. Currently building shelving, cabinets and workbenches.

I did move my 3D printer out to the shop and set it up this afternoon. I have some custom 3D print work I owe some friends that I will knock out while I play Norm Abrams. Going forward some of AITM's components will be 3D printed and some will be cast.

I'm developing two new detail items that will be added to the catalog when we open. These are the quad headlight pods for the AMT Autocar A64B kit and a set of front fender extensions for the Italeri FLD120. The front fender extensions allow the builder to make a truck without fairings. These parts will be super accurate as I've scanned the 1:1 parts to make the CAD masters.

I appreciate all of your messages of support. Will update more frequently as we get closer.

Best regards,

Matt

Howdy folks. Just wanted to drop an update. Shop is fully insulated. I'm still working on the interior paneling. Have the back wall of the garage to complete. For those that enjoy working with dead trees, my hat is off to you. I'm not a fan.

I'm lining the garage with 3/4 inch hardwood plywood. Next step after that is to add approx. 3" wide French cleats from floor to ceiling on 12" centers. Everything can then hang off the walls and move around as needed.

I appreciate the moral support and everyone's interest in the business.

Hello folks. My name is Matthew Arnold and I'm the new caretaker of AITM. I purchased the assets from the Natale family in late 2024. I'm currently working on remodelling a two car garage to facilitate casting, packing and shipping the large range of parts and kits. The goal is to be able offer the same rapid service we came to expect from the business. We hope to be operational some time in Q1 of 2025. Looking forward to working with all of you!

Best regards,

Matt

Today marks 2 years since my father passed away. He was a huge fan of Mack trucks and had built models of just about every kind. Many of you probably remember how he would post tons of pictures of his builds in the model truck groups. This post is for all of us who miss seeing the many inspirational models he built. Rest easy Dad.

Remembering all the great times helping my father with his model display and resin truck parts at the antique truck show in Macungie, PA. One of the things I miss most is watching him interact with people. It didn’t matter if you were an old friend, a customer or just an admirer of his incredible model trucks, you were treated with the same level of respect and were left feeling like you made a new friend. Always generous with his time and knowledge, he was more than happy to share modeling tips and advice or just talk about trucks. The only thing he was more passionate about was his family, especially his grand kids. My father never told me how to measure success, but he showed me it’s by having a positive impact on every single person you meet.
Happy Father’s Day, Dad.

Happy Father’s Day, Dad. The truck show in Macungie this year just wasn’t the same without you. The truck/modeling world lost a giant who can never be replaced. Thanks to all his friends for sharing their stories with me this weekend. It was great to see you all.
