Over 140 trips since 2015. Relocations, weddings, vacations: I'll get you there safely and comfortably. I am Carol Giuliani, the owner of Senior Travel Companion Services, and I provide customized trip planning and travel es**rt for individual seniors and couples. I live in a suburb of Minneapolis, Minnesota, U.S.A. I'm married and raised three sons to adulthood. My decades of caregiving experien

ce began when I was 22 and my dad had a stroke. After working as a federal law clerk and attorney for over ten years, I became a professional fiduciary/guardian/POA/trustee and managed the finances and health care decisions of seniors for over 27 years. I have traveled to all 50 states, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, South and Central America, Africa and some places you probably haven't heard of. Eight years ago, I decided to combine my talents to create Senior Travel Companion Services to help seniors safely and comfortably get to their desired destinations.

Since then, I have planned and executed over 110 domestic and international trips with people who are able-bodied as well as those with dementia, anxiety, Parkinson's disease, partial paralysis, ostomy bags and catheters, vision and hearing loss, cancer, limited mobility and other mental and/or physical situations requiring help or supervision. My travelers' ages have ranged from 26 to 96, and together we have been to 40 states and 11 foreign countries. These trips include cross-country or international moves, weddings, and vacations. The trips can be one day/one way up to vacations lasting a week or more. This is a door-to-door service provided personally by me, as I have the unique combination of both extensive travel and senior carer experience to successfully accomplish a move or long distance trip. A bonus: I achieved Delta Diamond and United Airlines Premier Platinum status in 2022 and often receive complimentary upgrades which extend to my traveling companions. I also volunteer on an international committee which is working to make airports more accessible and friendly towards seniors and people with hidden disabilities; and in my spare time, train and certify others desiring to become professional travel companions.

My winter trips so far. Twice to the Cape Canaveral area where I helped a lady each time get from a rehab to her family in New York. On my second trip, I was able to see a rocket launch at the Kennedy Space Center! I also helped lovely Kathy attend a wedding in Chicago. That gave me a chance to see my cousin and his significant other in Chicago for New Year’s.

2025 allowed me the opportunity to visit 16 countries, most of them thanks to client trips, and a couple on my own. let’s see what opportunities 2026 will bring!

I'll be speaking at this conference again soon in Oregon. This group (I believe) originally focused on getting the hospitality industry to work better with those facing physical challenges; and I like to remind them that that those with cognitive challenges such as dementia need to have their travel needs met as well. I did not come up with the title to this presentation, and since "handholding" might imply a different kind of es**rt (!?), I will be speaking about what I do when companioning seniors and others.

At the end of Oct. I had back-to-back successful trips: bringing a gentleman from Oahu to JFK and then helping a lovely woman and her husband relocate from Delaware to Seattle. I enjoyed some fishing in Hawaii and caught this giant skipjack tuna, and had a fun tour of underground Seattle before returning home. Good work, good people and some nice experiences on the side!

My fourth trip with Deb. First was a resort in Cancun; then Disneyworld, a Caribbean cruise and this month the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs where we practiced falconry. Yes, I have repeat traveling clients!

I love wedding season! In June I took Fred to Silverado, CA to his grandson's wedding and we learned an Indian dance! Last weekend I was in Santa Barbara, CA with Sue who enjoyed seeing her granddaughter tie the knot. Flights have been been challenging lately for some, but I worked my magic and so we had smooth sailing each time. Beautiful experiences for all!

Since my last post I've taken a gent to NYC for a vacation, was upgrade to first class when relocating a gal from Florida to MN,
flew 10,000 miles with a 93 yr. old Australian woman coming to Washington, D.C. to be with her sister, and took my third trip with Joan, who visits a daughter every Christmas season.
I also spent two weeks in Japan on a fun a tour. Busy way to end 2023! What's your next destination?

Extra, Extra! Read all about what's new in airport travel for people with hidden disabilities in this Associated Press article. https://apnews.com/article/dementia-friendly-travel-airports-labor-day-alzheimers-1a69e61fbec6e5a98bcf8a60d50aa840 It mentions me, my partner Jan who trains travel companions with me, and the volunteer organization we have been active in for several years: the Dementia-Friendly Airports Working Group. I had a photo shoot for this at PHX last week.
Here I am with one of the nicest people I have traveled with.
Tomorrow I am on Scripps News Live at 2:30 ET.

Last weekend I attended Travelocity's Emerging Markets Summit in Savannah. Which was awesome. I enjoyed sharing my business concept during the InnovatAble program, hanging out with Lynn Smith head of Sunflower Lanyards marketing in the US, and visiting with Cory Lee, influencer extraordinaire, among other fabulous leaders working in disability travel.
Then back to work, helping a sunny senior with dementia move from MN to AZ with a little help from some Delta staff. More adventures to come!

Last week I had the pleasure of a second trip with Sandy, es**rting her safely and comfortably from her home in the Shell Point, FLA retirement community to visit a lovely gentleman in Michigan.
Earlier last month I flew with Peggy from Oklahoma City to Albany to move near her daughter.
I was able to take a little time off to shop in Saratoga, NY, meet up with family and tour Notre Dame, IN and briefly see my sister in Milwaukee.
I continue to report on my experiences with the TSA, various airport visitor centers and the my employment of Sunflower Lanyards to my colleagues in the Dementia-Friendly Airports Working Group, an international travel improvement committee.
I've completed 116 trips to 42 states and 12 countries in my 8 years of operating Senior Travel Companion Services!
