Trophy or Fill the Freezer? Thoughts?

I was approached by an older gentleman at the NJ State Federation of Sportsmen's Clubs after I had spoken about hunting and the Take Me Hunting program. He said, *"Young lady, I very rarely hear what you said about trophy hunting spoken about. Please keep educating people about putting meat in the freezer."*

The funny thing is, I hadn't even realized I had said anything out of the ordinary. I was simply speaking about how I was raised and how I teach others to hunt.

This is clearly a huge topic in the hunting community. Personally, I cringe when someone asks me, "What did it score?" or "How much did it weigh?" To be honest, who cares?

I'm not chasing world records or giant animals for the sake of bragging rights. I hunt because I believe in harvesting my own food, respecting the animal, and providing healthy meat for my family.

For me, the true trophy isn't hanging on the wall—it's knowing exactly where the food on my family's table came from.

More specifically, Clinton Township has properties that are open to deer hunting; go to https://www.clintontwpnj.gov/pages/deer-management-program to review properties and application process. Applications start July 6.

Even more specifically, I have an opening on my Clinton township team, if you are interested, please email me at [email protected], maybe we can make a connection.

Remember; most if not all of the above properties are Deer Management properties; hunters need to harvest a lot of deer. It is not a place to shoot your 1 or 2 deer and quit; you will need to hunt all season and attempt to take 5 plus deer usually.

AND OF COURSE DONATE SOME TO DEER THRU HHH TO THE FOOD BANK SYSTEM TO THOSE LESS FORTUNATE THAN US. BUT YES, YOU CAN ALSO TAKE DEER FOR YOUR PERSONAL USE.
