We've hosted a gaggle of chartered jets this weekend with people escaping the heat heatwave (90°'s) and enjoying our glorious Air Conditioning by Nature (50°s). The substantial handling fees and fuel purchases make a very nice contribution to having our airport be self funding.

U.S. Customs & Border Protection will have one of their Defender SAFE patrol boats on display for tours at this year's Airport Community Day

See the boat up close and learn how agents use it in maritime operations: fast-response, coastal and river patrols, search-and-rescue support, boarding and inspection of vessels, and evidence/recovery tasks during anti-smuggling missions. The Defender’s speed, maneuverability, and shallow-draft design let marine crews operate safely and effectively in Maine’s coastal waters and rivers.

The Calais Station area of responsibility covers 68 miles of international border with Canada and approximately 196 miles of coastline. Calais Station conducts routine maritime patrols to detect and deter illicit maritime activity between ports of entry and to protect the border and coastal communities; tours and Q&A will explain how local agents coordinate coastal surveillance, vessel stops, and community safety missions.

HEADS UP EAST COAST! A rocket launch will be visible Friday morning. Here's how to see it:

The Space X Falcon 9 rocket carrying 4 NASA astronauts will launch at 5:15am from Kennedy Space Center in Florida. This is the Crew-12 mission to the ISS.

It will be going NE up the coast, so anyone in FL, GA, SC, NC, VA, MD, NJ, DE, CT, RI, MA, and the Eastern Parts of PA, NY, and ME should be able to see it. CT and NH may, too, depending on how far north you are. Look EAST/SOUTHEAST!

The launch was originally planned for Wednesday, but has slipped to Friday due to unfavorable weather in the ascent corridor.

Look up about 3-5 min after launch, depending on how far north you are.

The rocket launch may be delayed due to weather, mechanical issues, or other problems, so check back for updates.
