Yesterday was A DAY… it started out great on the river with friends. Until I got a call from one of our neighbors saying there was a fire on our property.
Several neighbors and friends responded immediately- moving animals, letting the fire trucks onto the property, and helping in so many other ways. There were 10-12 fire trucks… EMS… National parks service firefighters… I don’t think we’ll ever be able to repay them for being there for us.
It took me 22 minutes to get from the sandbar to the farm.
The house in the back (we referred to it as the guest house) had been our project for the last several months… trying to get it ready for Will’s sister to use. Apparently 1 (or more) lithium batteries exploded inside from all of our power tools being stored inside the house.
The house is now completely gone. Our horse trailer destroyed. And there’s significant damage to the garage- we don’t know if it’s salvageable yet.
As everything finally calmed yesterday afternoon- the sunset was still beautiful. A nice reminder that even in the toughest moments we face, we still have so much to be thankful for!
No one was hurt. All of the animals are great. Things are just things.

We met a really cool guy this weekend in Miami Beach, FL! takes amazing care of his furry little friends & I was so excited when I got to hold them!!! If you’re ever around South Beach/ Miami Beach… find him! A funny side note: Lamar is from Hopkins, SC. He went to Hopkins middle school & Lower Richland High School! He was seriously shocked to hear that’s home & that we went to LR too! 😂
