We’re pleased to announce that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has successfully completed the required flight check, and the Instrument Landing System (ILS) at Pangborn Memorial Airport is officially back in service.

The ILS was temporarily taken out of service during the runway rehabilitation project to allow construction activities to be safely completed. The runway rehabilitation project changed the ground contours in the vicinity of the ILS, requiring the FAA to conduct a flight check prior to restoring the system. Since the project’s completion, Regional Port staff have worked diligently with the FAA to complete this necessary inspection.

While the outage did not impact Horizon Air operations, we recognize the challenges it created for other pilots and airport users – especially during periods of low visibility – and appreciate the patience shown by our aviation community throughout this process.

Thank you to everyone involved in getting this critical navigation system safely and successfully returned to operation.

Regional Port 2025 Wrapped | Built on History, Designed for What’s Next ✈️

Another major highlight from 2025 was the General Aviation Terminal Adaptive Reuse Project, a $7.7 million investment that brought new life to an existing facility while honoring the Valley’s deep aviation roots.

The architectural design intentionally celebrates the region’s aviation heritage, blending history with modern functionality to create a welcoming, efficient space that supports a wide range of general aviation activity. The project was celebrated with a public dedication on August 27, 2025.

The revitalized terminal now supports multiple aviation uses, including flight instruction through 47 North Aviation, while improving the overall experience for pilots, passengers, and the broader airport community.

This project reflects the value of thoughtful reinvestment—preserving what makes our region unique while preparing Pangborn Memorial Airport for what’s next.

Regional Port 2025 Wrapped | Strengthening Our Region’s Gateway ✈️

One of the biggest milestones of the year was the $20.1 million Runway Rehabilitation Project at Pangborn Memorial Airport.

Completed on time and in just 30 days, construction crews worked around the clock to fully rehabilitate the runway while minimizing impacts to airport operations. The project was celebrated with a public dedication on October 3, 2025, marking a major investment in safety, reliability, and long-term regional connectivity.

Thanks to the FAA Reauthorization Bill, the local match was reduced from 10% to 5%, resulting in $1 million in savings for local taxpayers.

This project reflects the power of strong advocacy, strategic investment, and partnership—ensuring our region’s gateway remains safe, reliable, and ready for the future.

We are closely monitoring the air quality for today's Runway Run & Ride event at Pangborn Memorial Airport. We will be making a final decision at 3:30 p.m. today. If the event is cancelled we will post the announcement via social media and on www.cdrpa.org. Keep your fingers crossed that the air quality forecast is correct and the air will clear up!

What a wonderful day celebrating the General Aviation Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at Pangborn Memorial Airport! ✂️

We are so grateful to the community for the incredible turnout and for sharing this exciting milestone with us. Thank you to our partners for their hard work in bringing this project to life and for their continued support. A special thank you as well to the Commemorative Air Force for providing ground tours that made the day even more memorable.

This project is an important investment for both the aviation community and the economic development of our region. Enhancing general aviation facilities supports not only pilots but also benefits the general public by improving access for medical flights, wildfire response, business travel, and tourism. These improvements strengthen connectivity and create long-term growth opportunities for North Central Washington.
