Sunday September 24th will mark the 7th edition of the Triangle 200. 200km of roads, greenways, cuts and cue sheets. Riders will leave Durham and head across Falls Lake towards Falls of the Neuse. There the route picks up the Neuse River Greenway for 19 miles before connecting with the Walnut Creek Trail. From there it continues into Downtown Raleigh and connects to the Rocky Branch Trail, passes through NCSU and picks up the Reedy Creek Trail at Meredith College. Leaving Raleigh riders will head towards the highlight of the route, Umstead State Park. Gravel roads lead through the forest and omit some of the less desirable road sections between Raleigh and Cary. Once out of Umstead, the Black Creek and White Oak Creek Greenways head through Cary and connect with the American To***co Trail. Northbound on the ATT, riders can enjoy a gentle grade and shaded trail until the break into CH. Massey Chapel Rd connects to a few other roads to get into CH and Carrboro. Exit Carrboro on the Bolin Creek Greenway and follow a series of roads back into Durham. This will be one of the more exposed sections of the route and riders should use caution if completing the route after dark. New bike lanes provide space on some roads where others have only a small shoulder. Back into Durham, the route makes it way through Lakewood and Forest Hills before ending back at Duke Park. Cookout to follow.
