Small breaks every few hours can revamp your trip and give you extra energy. You can even do some jumping jacks to get your blood flow circulating!

While coffee may help truckers stay awake, consuming too much caffeine isn’t good for ANYONE! Consuming large amounts of coffee may cause headaches, anxiety, agitation, ringing in the ears, and irregular heartbeat. Two cups of coffee should be the maximum that drivers consume per day. Drink up! Not drinking enough water can affect a driver’s alertness on the road, causing headaches, impairing vision as well as ability to focus. Drivers should be drinking a half an ounce to an ounce of water for each pound they weigh per day to ensure their bodies are functioning to their full potential.

“Breakfast is the most important meal of the day” is NOT a myth! Eating breakfast increases your blood sugar which gives you the FUEL you need to start your day! This is vital for truck drivers especially because it can prolong the need to eat lunch and can keep you moving throughout the day on long trips.
Some healthy and simple breakfast ideas for truck drivers include oatmeal, fresh fruit, protein bars, or combination. It is also very important to consume water as soon as you wake up.
