⚠️ Scam Warning for wedding venues, photographers, and small businesses ⚠️
I want to share something that almost got me, so others don’t fall for it.
I had someone inquire about booking services. From the beginning, there were a few red flags:
He was very reluctant to provide a phone number
He said he couldn’t pay with a debit/credit card
He wanted to pay by check instead
He kept asking for my address (even though it’s clearly listed on my website)
After dragging things out for a while, he then said his “boss” would be sending a check. The plan was that the boss would overpay, and I would deposit the check and send money to another vendor (like a photographer).
This is a fake check scam.
The check may initially look like it clears, but later it bounces—and you are responsible for any money you sent out.
Thankfully, I trusted my gut. The lack of communication, avoiding normal payment methods, and the whole “boss sending a check” story just didn’t sit right with me.
Please be careful if someone:
avoids giving a phone number
won’t use normal payment methods
wants to pay by check from a third party
overpays and asks you to send money elsewhere
drags things out or gives inconsistent information
I’m sharing this to help protect other businesses—especially in the wedding and event industry.
