Getting into the spirit of the season as our very own customer service representative Veronica put an outstanding amount of detail into the annual pumpkin decorating contest sponsored by our building management company.

It even has internal lights! Fantastic job Veronica!!!

We MUST remain vigilant! The bad guys are already here. It's our job to remain watchful!

This post is from 8 years ago, but remains as meaningful today as it did then.

We can never forget!

As we assess the damage wrought by Hurricane Irma, it is important that we remember the events of this day 16 years ago right here in our own backyard.

On this day American Airlines Flight 77 left from here at Dulles IAD on its way to Los Angeles. The 53 men, women & children on board never made it to LA. It was hijacked, turned around, and came back here to DC where the hijackers crashed it into the Pentagon at 09:37 a.m., killing 189 people.

Unfortunately the events in New York that day dwarfed the crash here in DC that would have otherwise received extensive wall-to-wall coverage. Whenever 9/11 is mentioned now most people think automatically to the events in New York, and only secondly to the heroics here by our local first responders.

Here at Total Truck Transport we remember that day like it was yesterday, and although the commemorations are no longer front page news but rather relegated to a quick mention at the end of the local news, we take time to remember those that died here in Washington on this day, and renew our commitment towards ensuring that something of this magnitude never happens again. We remember seeing the smoke from the Pentagon rising high, to where you could see it from almost anywhere in the city. It was our wake-up call.

We train our drivers that although the odds of coming across a suspicious package are slim, that plane that crashed into the Pentagon 16 years ago left from right here at Dulles. The bad guys are out there, and they are right here around us. We recognize and accept our role in helping to keep the skies safe.

And on this anniversary date that commitment to safety and security is renewed as we approach that point in time that forever changed our lives.

Please keep the victims of that day, their families, their friends, as well as our valiant first responders, in your thoughts and prayers today.

From all of us on the Total Truck Transport team we'd like to thank everyone that stopped by our booth at the 2023 AirCargo Conference in Nashville TN this week.

We got to reconnect with many long time customers and introduce our services to many other freight forwarders needing local P&D in the Washington DC, Baltimore, Orlando, and Tampa areas.

Many thanks go out to AEMCA, the AFA, and ACI-NA for co-hosting this event. What a spectacular job they did in ensuring a smooth and interesting conference.

We'll be seeing everyone again in Louisville KY next year!

Please be advised that due to the impending arrival of Hurricane Ian, Total Truck TPA will be closing at 2:00 p.m. today so our staff can safely evacuate. Our facility is located in evacuation area 1 that is under a mandatory evacuation order.

We do not expect to return until Thursday at the earliest, and that, to be perfectly honest, is pretty wishful thinking. It is expected that power could remain down for several days.

We have taken every possible precaution to ensure the safety of the warehouse and its cargo. It is a brand new building...we were the very first tenants. The majority of the freight is well stacked on shelving. Anything still on the floor has been double or triple palleted to keep it as high as possible off the floor. Trucks have been relocated inland for safety.

Our MCO (Orlando) station is also expecting some rough weather, and may be required to close if the power should fail, but we're expecting nothing like Tampa, which based on the storm's current track has a bullseye painted on it. We are preparing for a worst case scenario as the warehouse is less than a mile from Hillsborough Bay.

We'll keep everyone updated as the situation develops.

Should you need immediate assistance or have questions please call our Dulles Virginia office.

Looking 6 years back in time to the Air Cargo Conference in Phoenix. This came up on our "Memories" reminder.

Always loved it when the bomb dogs came around. They really do love their work!

Meet Nan, who stopped by our booth at AirCargo Conference 2016 to say hi and agreed to watch the booth for a while for us while we took a little break. She signed up three new customers and made sure our booth was free from explosives at the same time!

We're sending a salute out to all the men & women who have served in the US Armed Forces. While you may not hear it very often, your sacrifices are appreciated. This country wouldn't be what it is today were it not for men & women willing to put everything on this line for it.

Thank you from a grateful nation! 🇺🇸

You heard it here first folks! This is really good news for those holders of a TWIC card or a Hazmat Endorsement on their CDL who have up to now had to pay extra to get a PreCheck Known Traveler Number (KTN) for the exact same background check.

All holders of these credentials are automatically eligible to use the PreCheck lines at participating airports.

For easier reading, here is the text of the announcement from TSA:

PRESS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 8, 2020

Active TWIC® and HME holders can use their credentials to obtain TSA PreCheck™

WASHINGTON – The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) expands TSA PreCheck™ eligibility to all active Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC®) and Hazardous Materials Endorsement (HME) holders who are U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals or lawful permanent residents.

“This new benefit immediately allows nearly 3.5 million individuals to obtain TSA PreCheck at no additional cost beyond what they have already paid for their credentials,” said TSA Executive Assistant Administrator for Operations Support Stacey Fitzmaurice.
Applicable TWIC® and HME holders may now use those credentials to obtain TSA PreCheck when taking a flight. For those with active credentials, not obtained via waiver, the benefit is effective immediately.

TWIC® and HME populations have already paid for, and successfully completed, a security threat assessment comparable to the TSA PreCheck security threat assessment. TWIC® is required by the Maritime Transportation Security Act for workers who need access to secure areas of the nation’s maritime facilities and vessels. The HME Program is for individuals seeking to obtain, renew or transfer an HME on a state-issued Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), allowing them to transport hazardous materials in commerce.

TWIC® and HME holders can obtain TSA PreCheck expedited screening by entering the identification numbers printed on their TWIC® card or state-issued CDL during the airline reservation process. Active TWIC® card holders enter their TWIC® credential identification number (CIN) in the known traveler number (KTN) field of their airline reservation. The CIN is printed on the back of each TWIC® card in the lower left-hand corner. Active HME holders enter the two-letter state abbreviation and CDL identification number from their state-issued commercial driver’s license in the appropriate KTN field. (For example: NY12345678.)

TSA PreCheck is an expedited screening program offered by TSA that allows travelers to leave on their shoes, light outerwear and belt, keep their laptop in its case and their food and 3-1-1 compliant liquids/gels bag in a carry-on, in select TSA airport checkpoint screening lanes. More than 200 airports participate in TSA PreCheck nationwide and dozens of airlines participate in the popular program.

To learn more about TSA PreCheck, visit the TSA PreCheck Frequently Asked Questions page. For more information on TSA PreCheck for TWIC® and HME holders, visit the TWIC® page or HME page.

Vonage has done it to us again and has managed to totally screw up our main phone line for the past 24 hours with no resolution in sight.

Please call our Residential Appointment line at 703-707-8175 to get through...if you call our main line you get a message that the number is not in service.

It seems that somehow another carrier acquired our main phone number. Nobody can tell us (or at least WANTS to tell us) how this happened, but we have no been over 24 hours without a phone number!

Vonage customer support has been less than communicative with their response.

We'll keep everyone up to date as far as when this might get resolved.

We apologize for the inconvenience.
