You heard it here first folks! This is really good news for those holders of a TWIC card or a Hazmat Endorsement on their CDL who have up to now had to pay extra to get a PreCheck Known Traveler Number (KTN) for the exact same background check.

All holders of these credentials are automatically eligible to use the PreCheck lines at participating airports.

For easier reading, here is the text of the announcement from TSA:

===============================
PRESS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 8, 2020

Active TWIC® and HME holders can use their credentials to obtain TSA PreCheck™

WASHINGTON – The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) expands TSA PreCheck™ eligibility to all active Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC®) and Hazardous Materials Endorsement (HME) holders who are U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals or lawful permanent residents.

“This new benefit immediately allows nearly 3.5 million individuals to obtain TSA PreCheck at no additional cost beyond what they have already paid for their credentials,” said TSA Executive Assistant Administrator for Operations Support Stacey Fitzmaurice.
Applicable TWIC® and HME holders may now use those credentials to obtain TSA PreCheck when taking a flight. For those with active credentials, not obtained via waiver, the benefit is effective immediately.

TWIC® and HME populations have already paid for, and successfully completed, a security threat assessment comparable to the TSA PreCheck security threat assessment. TWIC® is required by the Maritime Transportation Security Act for workers who need access to secure areas of the nation’s maritime facilities and vessels. The HME Program is for individuals seeking to obtain, renew or transfer an HME on a state-issued Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), allowing them to transport hazardous materials in commerce.

TWIC® and HME holders can obtain TSA PreCheck expedited screening by entering the identification numbers printed on their TWIC® card or state-issued CDL during the airline reservation process. Active TWIC® card holders enter their TWIC® credential identification number (CIN) in the known traveler number (KTN) field of their airline reservation. The CIN is printed on the back of each TWIC® card in the lower left-hand corner. Active HME holders enter the two-letter state abbreviation and CDL identification number from their state-issued commercial driver’s license in the appropriate KTN field. (For example: NY12345678.)

TSA PreCheck is an expedited screening program offered by TSA that allows travelers to leave on their shoes, light outerwear and belt, keep their laptop in its case and their food and 3-1-1 compliant liquids/gels bag in a carry-on, in select TSA airport checkpoint screening lanes. More than 200 airports participate in TSA PreCheck nationwide and dozens of airlines participate in the popular program.

To learn more about TSA PreCheck, visit the TSA PreCheck Frequently Asked Questions page. For more information on TSA PreCheck for TWIC® and HME holders, visit the TWIC® page or HME page.

Vonage has done it to us again and has managed to totally screw up our main phone line for the past 24 hours with no resolution in sight.

Please call our Residential Appointment line at 703-707-8175 to get through...if you call our main line you get a message that the number is not in service.

It seems that somehow another carrier acquired our main phone number. Nobody can tell us (or at least WANTS to tell us) how this happened, but we have no been over 24 hours without a phone number!

Vonage customer support has been less than communicative with their response.

We'll keep everyone up to date as far as when this might get resolved.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

We're still waiting to hear about a date for Nichole's memorial service. Once we get that we'll post it here right away.

In the meantime, if you haven't already done so please consider making a contribution to the family as they struggle with the enormous financial burden of planning a funeral.

We'd also appreciate it very much if you would consider sharing this post to your social media pages to help spread the word and help the family out even more. When a tragedy of this sort strikes a family it's easy to ask "what can I do to help"? Here is your chance to help...to make a contribution and then share the post.

Thank you!

As we mourn the loss of our friend and colleague Nichole (Nikki) Kibler, our thoughts go out to her family as they struggle to deal with the suddenness of her passing.

The sudden, unexpected loss of a loved one brings significant financial hardship, and we would like to do everything possible to assist the family as they face the daunting task of making memorial arrangements.

Please, if you knew Nichole, won't you please take a moment to help support her daughter and the rest of her family by making a contribution? No matter the size each and every contribution is significant.

We would also ask that you share this post on your own social media pages to help spread the word to those that may not have heard or who are looking to help support the family during this time of need.

Once memorial service arrangements have been finalized we will of course let everyone know.

Thank you.

On Monday, May 20, 2019, our dear friend and colleague Nichole Kibler passed away suddenly at home. She was only 45 years old. To say that we are devastated at this news is an understatement.

Our hearts go out to the family and friends of Nikki as they struggle to cope with this tragedy. In a separate post we'll detail how those that knew Nichole can help the family with the emotional and financial burdens ahead.

For now we'd like to hear your thoughts and experiences with Nichole that we can share with the family, and hopefully they can obtain some measure of comfort in knowing just how important she was to the Total Truck Transport family.

RIP Nikki! 💔

Total Truck Transport will be closed on Monday, May 27th as we honor those that have died in service to our country.

There can be no more appropriate place to be than here in Washington DC, less than 10 miles from Arlington National Cemetery where so many of our heroes rest peacefully.

We ask everyone to remember that it's not about the super sales, the backyard parties, or the chance to get out of a day of work.

It's about the sacrifices made by so many that we can enjoy these and so many other activities in freedom.

Please be advised that due to today's snow / sleet / ice storm Total Truck is operating on a skeleton staff. We are officially closing at 3:00 this afternoon. There will be no outbound American Linehaul truck tonight, but the morning truck DID get in and we will be open for recoveries up until 3:00.

We're back to full strength today following yesterday's snow. It's melting fast...hard to believe all the chaos over a few inches, but hey...this is DC! We got anywhere from just 2"-3" all the way up to 18" in some places!

We're playing catch up with deliveries from yesterday that were cancelled due to closures. We should be all caught up by tomorrow...

Thanks for your understanding.

Although the Veterans Day holiday is upon us a day early, (Veteran's Day is actually on November 11th), today (November 10th) marks an important and unfortunately often overlooked event, the birthday of the United States Marine Corps.

We are honored here in Washington to have a significant Marine Corp presence, from the Marine Barracks at 8th & I Streets in DC, to Marine Corps Base Quantico here in Virginia just a few miles down the road.

We also have the privilege of having the Iwo Jima Memorial in Arlington.

At places like Trenton, Tripoli, Chapultepec, Belleau Wood, Guadalcanal, Chosin, Khe Sanh, Fallujah, Sangin, and so many others, Marines have sacrificed and persevered, often in the face of overwhelming opposition.

Here at Total Truck Transport we honor these men and women who have given so much so that we can live free.

Semper Fi Marines!!! Happy Birthday!!!

Everyone here at Total Truck Transport was saddened to hear the news today that long time driver Ricky Nixon had passed away.

Ricky still popped in to the office from time to time to say hello. He was a fixture here for over nine years, from 2006 through 2015, and his dry humor and wry smile always brightened the office whenever he was around.

Services for Ricky will be on Sunday 10/8/17 at 1pm.

09/11/2017

As we assess the damage wrought by Hurricane Irma, it is important that we remember the events of this day 16 years ago right here in our own backyard.

On this day American Airlines Flight 77 left from here at Dulles IAD on its way to Los Angeles. The 53 men, women & children on board never made it to LA. It was hijacked, turned around, and came back here to DC where the hijackers crashed it into the Pentagon at 09:37 a.m., killing 189 people.

Unfortunately the events in New York that day dwarfed the crash here in DC that would have otherwise received extensive wall-to-wall coverage. Whenever 9/11 is mentioned now most people think automatically to the events in New York, and only secondly to the heroics here by our local first responders.

Here at Total Truck Transport we remember that day like it was yesterday, and although the commemorations are no longer front page news but rather relegated to a quick mention at the end of the local news, we take time to remember those that died here in Washington on this day, and renew our commitment towards ensuring that something of this magnitude never happens again. We remember seeing the smoke from the Pentagon rising high, to where you could see it from almost anywhere in the city. It was our wake-up call.

We train our drivers that although the odds of coming across a suspicious package are slim, that plane that crashed into the Pentagon 16 years ago left from right here at Dulles. The bad guys are out there, and they are right here around us. We recognize and accept our role in helping to keep the skies safe.

And on this anniversary date that commitment to safety and security is renewed as we approach that point in time that forever changed our lives.

Please keep the victims of that day, their families, their friends, as well as our valiant first responders, in your thoughts and prayers today.

09/08/2017

Our thoughts and prayers are with all the folks down in Florida right now as they prepare for the arrival of Irma. MCO Orlando operations will almost certainly be affected on Monday as the storm is currently projected to pass through Orlando as a Cat 2 hurricane around 2:00am on Monday morning. Most flights in and out of MCO are currently scheduled to be suspended on Saturday.

Once the storm passes and operations resume, shipments of relief supplies will be afforded the highest priority.

We will keep everyone posted here as to the status of our MCO station as information is received.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TOTAL TRUCK TRANSPORT!!!

On this date back in 2000 Total Truck Transport Incorporated officially came into being as a corporation.

We've come a long ways in the last 17 years...from 3 trucks and 3 employees operating out of their respective trucks, (we didn't have a warehouse back then) to close to 70 trucks from Sprinters to straight trucks to tractor trailers, over 50 employees, over 70 drivers, operating out of three locations with a total of 50,000 sq feet of warehouse space!

The photo below shows the two business partners in front of the pride of the "fleet" back then. The photo was taken by "the employee" at the time! Yeah...he's still with the company too!!!

Total Truck Transport will be closed on Monday, May 29th in observance of Memorial Day. Having offices in the Washington DC area affords us the privilege of appreciating sites such as Arlington Cemetery and the memorials for our WWII, Korean, and Vietnam soldiers. It was through their sacrifices that we are the nation we are today.

The Total Truck Transport fleet continues to expand as we just took delivery yesterday on a brand spankin' new 26' 2017 Freightliner! Extra tall box gets us 109" inside...almost a tractor-trailer height, plus a really smooth liftgate. Perfect for moving those tall computer racks bound for the local server farms! Drivers are already lining up vying to drive it, but it still needs to get the logo before it hits the road! It even has that "new truck smell"!

Total Truck Transport will be exhibiting at this show. We'd love to put some faces to the voices we've been talking with all these years! If you're going to be attending, please stop by our booth and say hi! We'll have representatives from all three of our stations in attendance. Dan, Duke, Bojan, Mike, and Steve will all be there to meet you and answer any questions you may have, as well as to get you entered in our raffle drawing for a really great prize!

And for those of you we HAVEN'T spoken with before, we sure want to talk with you as well! We all know that forging a business relationship revolves around trust, and trust is best built when you can look your business partner in the eye and talk face-to-face.

See you in Orlando!!!
